Waterfront & Borgata Buffets - Any( june 2012) experiences

Went to AC a few months ago and skipped the Waterfront Buffet based on recent experiences. reviews posted on TA. We ate twice at Borgata.

Any recent experiences ( quality and variety of foods , lines to get in) ?

Thanks,

Cant speak much about lines, because of Diamond card, but have had good meals at Waterfront twice in the past 30 days. By far the best of the 3 remaining CZR choices. I have seen no reduction in quality in the past year.

Went to Waterfront at the beginning of the month for the first time. We though it was very good and we plan on going back on our 4th of July trip. Borgata is still a step above it in my opinion. Lines can be crazy long there. I'm Diamond and still had to wait about 15 minutes in line.

I may not get to AC often but when I do, I prefer Caesars.

Stay thirsty my friends.

Waterfront is good but Borgata is better.

I recommend borgata buffet which is very good. Waterfront was junk the last 2 times I was there and I wouldnt go back. Steak was garbage, desserts bland, mostly salty overcooked cafeteria quality food.

Thanks for your comments.

We like to eat at the buffets due to our differing diets. There was a time when we went to Trump Plaza, Taj, Waterfront and Borgatta. We then stopped going to dinner buffets on the Boardwalk and alternated between Waterfront and Borgotta ( Preferred the Variety at Waterfront - esp Desserts). Then the waterfront "seemed" to go downhill in selection and quality and Borgatta seemed to maintain it's quality and improve its desserts.

Borgata has fewer selections but they do know how to maintain quality. Never any complaint there except no raw bar or shrimp to peel before dinner on weekdays. We ate there a few times this month. Even their gelato is probably the best in town.

Waterfront was great for all 7 of us on Sunday. More selections than Borgata and crab legs as good as it gets.

Both places were mobbed when we went, so it was a wait for everyone, but worst for non-higher playing customers.

Showboat buffet is also doing well with their "seafood" buffet these days: very nice selections, great raw bar with oysters, and fresh cooked lobsters everyday. And this Tuesday the deserts there were as good as I’ve seen in AC except the Borgata gelato. Great to see them getting it right—and they were also very busy that afternoon.

The Waterfront buffet during the week (without crab legs) is just ok, but overpriced. Borgata lunch buffet (without shrimp and sushi) is ok but overpriced. So, in our travels we avoid the Waterfront buffet unless it is the weekend dinner, and we avoid the Borgata buffet unless it is either breakfast or dinner.

Had dinner at The Waterfront Buffet this past Friday (6/22) which was Lobster Night and I would have to admit it ws pretty good overall. The lobsters were fresh and firm, not mushy. Although there were many items eliminated because of Lobsterfest, what was there was tasty & hot. The ribs and corn were very good. My previous dinner there a couple of weeks earlier was not as satisfying with regards to the quality of the food prepared.

We ate at Waterfront one week ago on Monday at five o'clock. Lines were just starting to form. I am a big fan of WB, but I was somewhat disappointed. The sliced beef selection was top round which was overdone and tough. I was told there would be a twenty minute wait for turkey which was surprising at that time slot. The steamed clams and shrimp were both done to perfection, but there was no salmon being served at that time -- tilapia instead. Crab claws were the only crab dish being served--no mini crab cakes. I was happy with the chopped salad being available, and the only dessert I had was half a dip each of strawberry and chocolate gelato--both delightful. I don't think you can go wrong at this buffet because there are always a number of good choices. Not that you asked, but we had stopped at Chester on Sunday for their luncheon buffet. This was our second stop in two months and I would give Chester a slight edge over Waterfront in variety and overall quality.
