1. Re: TR Harrahs suddenly solo trip - tier match trip

Had a Thursday- Saturday trip planned with friends that bailed. Decided to go anyway since I had the time off and has been a while since I had longer than a 12 hr visit.

Have I mentioned how I hate the belt parkway – even at 10 am I hit traffic but still in AC by 1pm. VIP registration was open and empty and check in was a breeze for my corner waterfront 35th floor, bayside – I had a connector for my friends that I gave back. Did a quick room check on arrival and found a light out on shower which would have meant shaving my legs more of a gamble then I would like so I called down to maintenance and headed out.

Went to 7* lounge and had my usual shrimp cocktail and cosmo – they are still inconsistent I guess by bartender sometimes they are great sometimes so alcohol “y” I can’t drink em. Had a BLT and hit the casino. Had some nice slot play from that gas card vs slot play giveaway in May, some slot cashback and vouchers for Friday and Saturday so was hoping to play and not pay LOL.

Played my double gold 9 line machine $1 machine for a few hours and was up a cool $1500 on the who needs a gas card slot play. Decided to head up to my room for a shower and rest. It was 8pm and geez they still didn’t fix the darn light – so shower check, making legs short ready not so much. Ordered a nice strip steak from room service and caught up on my Royal Pains on tv on demand and watched American pie reunion. Geez so many movies and nothing to watch. Listened to some Lady Gaga at mock 90 while bathing. Ok crap now I am tired so that’s it for me. Hit the hay. Day 1 complete. Oh the maintenance lady came up around 8:30 and fixed the light – she was nice and in and out.

Friday awoke early courtesy of the screaming child next door – the bedrooms and baths abut and he was not enjoying from the sound of it. Had a nice room service smorgasbord and read the paper. Then strapped on my shoes for a day of match the tier card sweepstakes! Headed to Showboat – played my $10 slot play – LOL guess I haven’t been showing the Boat any love. Can you hear the slurp – cash in – nothing out – heck it was a waste to sit down SB wasn’t too crowded, passed crossroads they seemed busy.

Out on the boards to walk to revel, it was hot but nice and that end of the boards weren’t busy – watching the beach restoration and building by revel was nice for few minutes. Oh yeah and hey when did they put in those Adirondack chairs on the boards? I can burn by looking at a picture of the sun so it was a quick walk but Revel does strike a nice profile, doesn’t it?

The entrance is dumb, hope nobody gets hit walking through traffic. Up the escalators to the card center, employees were helpful in pointing it out. Maybe 15 people on line – of course had to have a loud mouthed obnoxious employee come out and direct the line to the wall – it was fine to do it he was just unpleasant in manner and tone. Signed up got my $250 slot play, tier 4 and was told to go over there, around here tp get 8 tickets a day for the food walk, but eh I already had free food.

Slot play was odd – you had to enter money and then they refunded it up to the amount of the slot play offer. Played some ice cream sundae machine and walked away with $286 but couldn’t begin to tell you why LOL. I promptly left. So Ok I went, I saw, I said eh and left. We shall see what offers follow. Nothing to write home about. Casino was active but not mobbed – kinda dark.

Walked to resorts – they will match the $100 you lose in 2 $50 vouchers sent home. Kinda old and dated as expected and couldn’t win much of anything. Back to SB for my car. Enjoyed the walk – got sunburn down the back of my collar sheesh.

Drove to ballys waited quite a bit for valet despite a manager running around who ignored me despite my 7* card being out and visible. Sat down at the first machine off the lobby something called bam and made a quick $300 on my $10 downloadable slot play. 2 annoyances – needed like 5 attempts to download the slot play and while I was playing 2 young girls came with a slot attendant and started telling the woman next to me they left money in her machine and mine – the woman was asked to get up and leave the amount they claimed on to play (they said they verified it). Then they came to me – I am pretty good and of there was money left on the machine I cannot believe I missed it. They seemed to be saying it was bus money? The slot attendant asked if I put money in – I advised I had started with downloadable slot play – she told the girls she couldn’t check that and left. The girls sat at the machine next to me and were tossing expletives – heck I do not want anyone’s money but my own – if I saw it, I would never have sat down. So what do you think scam – could I have missed money – usually you can tell right away the buttons are lit up etc? ($23 by the way), but it was a game I was unfamiliar with so. I would have happily handed them the cash if it was my error though maybe not after the cursing.

Was planning on hitting the easy spirit outlet but my feet was sore and I was hungry so 7* lounge it is. I must say they make a VERY VERY good cosmo every time. Once again I asked proportions – he said 1½ absolute, 1 triple sec and 1 lime, splash cranberry – I swear its doesn’t taste that good at home with absolute citron and cointreau and I have tried every proportion I can think of. Had a shrimp cocktail, limp and not as nice as Harrahs. Had an open faced turkey sandwich which turned out to be some avant garde thing on the plate – I swear their food is so odd, the folks were ok but my feel is Harrah’s 7* lounge has the edge. I like Olga, the food and the folks are familiar and usually nice.

Now fortified with my 3 cosmos - I headed to Pier Shops – have a gift card to burn up – couldn’t find a thing to buy. Nice on the deck though. Decide to walk to ACH – totally forgetting how far that is. But IO made it – thanks to the boards headed straight to cage – got my $100 played a half hour and got twenty more – left up $160 – the place was hopping I must say.

So now the feet really hurt – back to Ballys for the car – all traces of buzz gone and all rehydrated . Headed back to Harrahs up $600 from my tier match jaunt. Will I play at any of my new places – eh.

Back to Harrahs – hit the 7* lounge for a few cosmos and a snack. Played a bit on my free play. Nothing much was popping. Hit my room for some chicken marsala. Had a nice bottle of wine and a soak in the tub, priceless but too tired to head back down. Hit the hay to be awakened by the storm briefly. Didnt care too much but that may have been the wine

Up early – had a nice room service breakfast, packed, and then hit my double gold for my remaining free play. Two quick $400 hits and one my way home with a sandwich from the sub place and a few chocolate chip cookies from Tazza. Great ride to the belt – grrr then just creeped home.

Nice to come home with money and have some RR on someone else's dime. All in all, not a bad trip.

Wow! That's a great trip report! You're very adventurous to hit the Boardwalk like that, but it paid off for you! Congrats. Always good to turn what would have been a ruined trip into some fun. Thanks for sharing. (btw...I hate the Belt too! There should be a boat from the Island down to AC)

....and now I want a Cosmo too!

Nice solo trip. I did the Resorts thing also. Went to the $100 WOF machine. I thought, why waste time losing my money slowly. First pull I won $500. Thanks Resorts! No need to send me any vouchers.

Sounds like fun! Don't know which I hate more...the SI Expressway or the Belt! We always go Lincoln Tunnel across 35th Street to Midtown Tunnel to LIE...keep me out of Brooklyn!!

Great report and easy to follow! 3 cosmos, yikes! I brought a girl to Vegas with me a few years back, went out to dinner at Hugos Cellar in the Four Queens, and after her 3rd cosmo she decided to have a "Blind Date" moment and fall out of her chair and land under the table and couldn,t get up! Never again.

sounds like a really nice trip..some nice hits... but the girls in Bally's that "left" money in the machines - their "bus"money??? that sounds like a SCAM!! and I can't believe the slot attendant made that other lady leave and leave behind the "girls" money and then was after you.. glad you held your own! I think if there really was money left on the machines..you would have seen it.

Glad other than that incident, you had fun!

I too dislike the Belt Parkway but not as much as the SI Expressway!

It stinks that your friends bailed on you but it's great to see you made the best of your trip anyway.

Congrats on your hits and I could truly relate with your walking situation, certainly can put a hurting on your feet. At least you were able to reward yourself with some cosmos! I have to wait at least another 4 1/2 weeks before I can taste cosmo goodness.

Great TR though Jane! I haven't seen any LIR love from you in a while though :)
