Revel: Smoking and Buffet

These may have been covered in other threads, (1) has Revel expanded the smoking area in the casino? Seemed that way to me yesterday, but perhaps I'm not remembering the original designated smoking area correctly, and (2) has anyone else heard that the fomer poker room would be the site of a buffet restaurant? This was mentioned by 2 Revel employees.

I hope you are correst about the buffet. A good high-end buffet would get me to the Revel.

I read somewhere, might be here or one of the gambling forums, that they didn't have a buffet in place because of a contract with the other restaurants and adding a buffet would hurt the other establishment's business.

I believe exotica is correct there are or were contractual promises of no competition from a buffet—but with enough juice and connections contracts can avoided or broken with minimum penalty. So without any trustworthy source at this time, it’s anyone’s guess what Revel might try next.

I’m sure if they did set up the best buffet in town for a reasonable price they would draw some crowds. And imagine if it were open 24/7 for hungry gamblers?

I wouldnt worry to much about revels success anymore, buffet would be great, but they are going to be number one in AC buffet or no buffet. The reason I say this, and no I Do not work for them.

The reason I say this is that, Ive gone back to Revel since the gamblers wanted promo started and the offers are far better then any casino in AC,

What would some of you think if we had a food court instead of buffet? Similar to Borgatas, or tropicanas, or even as small as taj has up stairs?

Let us know what you think!

NEVER be number 1 in A/C.Not even on same level as Borgata.Lucky they make it thru the Winter!

Smoking didn't help,Buffet won't either!

I believe their no buffet decision was a mistake from the beginning BUT doubt it would help their bottomline now. As AC business dwindles so do the buffet options.

If a buffet were to replace the poker room, few people would be able to find it. Plaza hasn't improved its casino revenue with a well located cheap buffet.

CET's trend has been to shutdown or limit most of their buffet hours. Even the Borgata has done this before the summer for the first time, closing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in spite of the buffet playing a huge role in their Black Label program. I still cannot believe that Harrahs buffet is no longer opened for lunch on weekdays during the summer when it used to have endless lines even when Virgina City was still open.

Doesn't seem like Revel's higher level player's lounge with food offerings affected Borgata's Black Label program negatively in July. Also seems like CET Diamond lounges are ghost towns compared to the summers when their admission was free. I believe the decision to charge admission to the CET Diamond lounges greatly helped the Borgata and their Black Label program.

AC Casinos just do not seem interested in using buffets or player lounges to draw customers anymore.

Casinomom, I know you're solidly in the Borgata camp. I am too, generally, but I am not Black Label, so I don't have all the perks you have at Borgata. And I enjoy staying at and spending time at Revel too. Not perfect, but It really has a lot of nice features. The other day it seemed quite busy, with the whole range of 20 somethings, families, and middle aged and seniors. If they do open a buffet, I think it would add even more to their appeal. I'm a little disappointed about the growing smoking area. The no-smoking policy was a differentiator that I honestly thought would work. And of course, like most of us, I would like to see a higher rate of comp earnings there.

Revel is superior to Borgata with THE SOCIAL. It is a great entertainment area with lots of room to sit or to dance.
