Trip Report - Stayed at Trop

After my last posting about trying to reserve a Bally's room, I thought I'd give you guys the outcome of my trip. Ended up with an$85 room at Trop - South Tower. Got King bed, ocean view, as requested. Was nice, very clean, yet a small room. Only problem was twice the key didn't work - I think it was a problem with the door, not the key, but they gave us $30 food credit off our room rate! That was nice. We had fun in the casino, and also going back and forth to the Hilton (where we usually stay). Saw Earl Turner show for free at the Hilton, was excellent! Very talented singer/dancer/comedian. Hilton also gave us a free buffet (I had a mailing offer from them.) All in all, we didn't have to pay for a meal! We did go down to Bally's at night, to gamble. I must say I was quite frustrated because my total awards card didn't work in the machines, and even after I got another card, it didn't work in a lot of machines. I also didn't win at all at Bally's, nor at Trop, but I won $284 in a quarter machine at the Hilton, so that made up for my losses, and I came home with all my $! Weather was nice on Thurs, and we sat on the Hilton beach - got empty chairs without paying at around 4 pm! Overall, we had a great time - good drink service everywhere if you keep on tipping! I really enjoyed the walking on the boardwalk a lot, and the crowd seemed pretty good actually. Only negative was a dirty looking homeless guy eating a ton at the Trop buffet. By the way, Trop check-in was amazingly quick and room was ready at 12 noon on Thurs. Very nice service there.

All in All sounds like you had a good time plus you went home with all your $$ CHI CHING $$ You can't beat that deal. It's a sweet trip when you win and have your AC Adventure paid for.

How are the selection of Penny / Nickle Slots at The Hilton & Trop ?

Is there any of the newest machines at Ballys ?

CHEERS !!!!!!!!!

Terminator - I really couldn't tell you about penny & nickle machines. I play quarter & dollar machines. Also, I try to stay away from new machines - instead look for older ones. For some reason, I feel the chances are better at the older ones - don't know if that's true, it's just my hunch. The one that payed me almost $300 at the Hilton was a 12X one, I got two 7's, and a 12X which matched any symbol, then multiplied the payoff times 12. That was a nice treat!

Gevurah - Yes, I was happy at the end of the trip. The room hardly cost us anything. Ate & drank for free, and even saw a free show! Plus I got plenty of exercise walking the boards, not to mentioned some much needed sun!

Ronadebra - Our bed at the Trop was fine. Yes, I do love the mall, but tried not to shop! Only bought a t-shirt on the boardwalk for my niece, nothing else.

ejan.... Sounds like you really enjoyed the wonderful AC, and at a price that's just right, too! Glad you enjoyed yourself.

I am going to have to get down to see the Hilton next time I go; haven't been there in a long time, and I know they'v made some changes.

Since I don't play too much at the Trop, about the only way I am going to stay there is either off season or if I can get a poker room rate. From the sounds of your report, I should expect a good room. <grin>

I'm going to try my luck with the dreaded Ballys ;-)

Bud Dry - What I like about the Hilton is that it's not as overwhelming as a lot of the casinos. They are good with comp rooms, too, I always get offers and I'm not such a huge gambler - just play slots and try to make a couple of hundred last... The beach bar and band is very nice, as is the actual beach. You can usually get a free chair (from someone whose left the beach) late in the afternoon, because they don't pick up the chairs until late in the day.

Ambrva - Good luck on Thurs! Let me know how it goes at Bally's. I do love their indoor pool and jacuzzies! Make sure your Total Rewards card works. That was really frustrating for me. No sense in playing there if you aren't earning credits.

Now that we definately agree on!!

I actually have not had trouble with my TR card not working. My first trip after the changeover happened to be to the Flamingo in Vegas. I got my TR card there (it was a gold card). At that time Caesars had not been switched over to TR yet. (This was the end of Feb.)

A couple weeks later, Caesars was converted and suddenly I got a Platinum card in the mail. (I think I just barely made it and the little play I had logged at Caesars pushed me over the edge. I actually don't think I really qualify, but in the last year I did have two trips to Ballys where I won some money; therefore I gave more action, which improved my rating. That is the theory anyway.) That one worked at Ballys/Caesars/Showboat/Harrahs on my next trip with no problems. Hopefully THIS trip there will also be no problems with my card. I hate standing in line at the stupid booth.
