Make certain your hotel room door is locked!

It has been reported that a guest

returned to their room and someone was hiding in the closet! Always try the door when leaving or returning to be certain it is in fact locked. Some doors don't fully close and lock on their own. They need a little tug or push depending on if you are coming or going. I always hang the " Do Not Disturb" sign to make my room appear occupied.

Also, don't be fooled by crime shows like CSI - there are no security cameras monitoring the hallways in the hotel portion of the casinos. So be aware of your surroundings when going to/coming from your room.

Also, don't be made hysterical by posts that start, "it has been reported...."

It happened Saturday night about 6:30 at Resorts. There was three people working together. They have pictures of them. It was in The Press of A.C.

Thank you both very much. I do usually make sure the door has clicked, but I think the reminder was a good one

Atlantic City casinos do have cameras in hotel hallways. The last suspects picture is from a hallway in the older section of Resorts that has those big round lights on each side of the hallway....

Thanks for the correction, Bob. I know that last year I'd read an article in the Las Vegas Review Journal about crime in Vegas casino hotels & the reporter made a point of stating that security cameras were not installed in the hotel hallways. I've looked for, but never been able to spot, cameras in the hallways of the Borgata. Hope that my earlier comment is completely wrong.

Im guessing they were not hotel guests, so why aren't they asking for room keys?

The thing that bothers me is this has happened before! They need to tighten up security in the hotels. Things like this are real bad for business.
