Trump

They are spending a lot of money on upgrading the Taj. Lots of new machines, a new mini baccarat pit, Ego, the new Noodle bar an other stuff. Maybe Marina is next? Just remember that when they spend to update you lose by less comps, gifts, etc! We are feeling that now!

Sounds like they are concentrating on The Taj from what everyone reports.

I wouldn't be suprised if Trump sold the Marina within a year . And he tears down the Plaza . Then he and Wynn buy the old convention hall ( or maybe just it's airspace ) and they make a Mega casino encompassing those two areas and the former Playboy casino site .

I just read something interesting about the Bader Field Airport site , which needs zoning approval before it can become a casino site . It seems this was the world's first "Airport" . Airports were previously know as "Airfields" . When the world's first transatlantic flight attemot was made it was from Bader Field . They renamed Bader Airfield to Bader Airport to make the name more in keeping with "Ship port" , which transatlantic ships used . The name stuck and gradually became common usage for all developed airfields .

Funny thing about Trump . If he were a pool player he would be known as a "shotmaker" . Most businessmen play position . That is they make a move or shot while very much keeping in mind what position the next shot will require . When The Donald finds himself behind the 8 ball he just tries to make a spectacular shot to get himself back in the game .

Also the Donald would rather own 10% of 10 buildings , all with his name on them , than 100% of 1 building .

I just read an interesting article . Pinky Kravitz ( Pinky's Corner - AC Weekly - whoot.com ) was trying to rally people to write to NJ officials to discourage the sale of the old convention center . It is listed as a NJ landmark but that doesn't give it protection . I remember first going there over 40 years ago to see the Ice Capades . I was very bored ! The last time I went was to the boat show , before it was moved to the new convention center .

Pinky was saying a bit more about the rumors that Wynn wanted to buy the Trump Plaza Property and the Convention Hall ( posssibly with Trump) . Personally I think they should tear down the Old Convention Hall . You can't save EVERYTHING . It's more functional in design than interesting . And although it was totally renovated ( especially the organ ) the maintainece costs are very high .

I still think there might be a compromise with Wynn or Trump taking the air space above it .

PS , what Trump properties need to upgrade is MANAGEMENT . The banks have had too much say in this area .

you say the last time you were in the convention hall was some years ago, if you look at it now it has totally changed, it always was a beautiful building but it looks even better now, and the organ still hasnt been restored ACCHOS is still raising funds. the building shouldnt be demolished as its too important a building for the city and it is a big contributer to the economy of atlantic city.

The building contributes less than 2% of the tax than a new casino would . The vast majority of employees are per event and don't put a dent in the AC unemployement rate . Also it donates nothing the the Redevelopement Fund . It is only used , ar most , an avg. of one day a week . Mostly for boxing events , indoor car racing and such .It lacks it own parking . A handful of concerts are held there each year . New Venues at Borgata , Harrah's etc. will be alternatives to the Boardwalk Hall for these concerts .The building though somewhat interesting is not a work of art . It is not energy efficient .The Organ could be located through volunteers helping out . IF you could find a place to put this HUGE instrument . 99% of the people can not hear the difference between this instrument and an electronic version .
