I would say avoid it and stay in a Casino / Hotel. For example during the week in Dec & Jan at The Tropicana they have rooms for $59.00, $69.00, $79.00, $89.00.

Most of the hotels/motels I've seen off the boardwalk look a bit scary and not places you want to be walking to/from at night. If you're traveling on a weekend and money is an issue there are nice hotels/motels in West Atlantic City and Absecon - although, you'll have to drive to these locations.

Hi: Read some reviews on the Days Inn and it wasn't bad. Any thoughts. All hotels even Tropicana are 150 and above.

You will want to pay the extra $75.00 (or whatever it is) a night at The Trop. The "NorthTower" rooms at The Trop are really nice. Trust me, a high percentage of those Motels along Pacific Ave. are used for other purposes than for out of town tourists.

Theres nothing better than to stay in a Hotel / Casino as you can go up to your room for a rest anytime you want. You don't have to worry about walking outside to your room or taking a Jitney especially if you are having a few drinks.

Sometimes the extra $75/night is not there in the vacation budget. I've been there. Back in the day going ANYWHERE was more important than staying in a deluxe place.

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn and Howard Johnson next to the hilton. I think that they are on Chelsea. They are not the ritz but they weren't bad.

I agree about the Howard Johnson's....not bad at all. It's a very old building, you can tell from the rooms. It's no frills too and not in the best part of town, but there's nothing really wrong with it. I stayed there 2x, and would go back in a minute. Loved the Country Kitchen at the corner on the boardwalk. :)

The AC Super 8 motel is $53 per nt. on Expedia.com ,might be your best deal in town . Check their website for a possible discount . Also Surfside Six might have a room for that price . The Knight's Inn on Rt. 30 only 5 -10 minutes out from AC Casinos is only $36 a night on Expedia . Quality Inn ( choicehotels.com ) Absecon is around $50 and it has an indoor pool and a nice breakfast included . But it is about 15 - 20 minutes from AC Casinos .

I stayed there a couple of months back.It really is only about 75 yards from the boardwalk in a pretty safe area. I had no problems walking back to the hotel in the early hours. For the money the room is large and clean.Did the job for me. The staff also are very accomodating and there is free parking.I would give it a shot
