Are you serious? or is this a troll. Have you driven around AC? There are nice areas in southern NJ, but AC is not one of them.

AC may become quite livable in 6 or 7 years . Right now there is a section called Venice Park that is nicer . Also Brigantine , Ventnor , MArgate and Absecon Hights are nicer places on the outskirts of town . Go a few miles further out from AC and you will find some nicer options .

I sometimes think the same thing, that I would like to retire in AC......but not the actual town of AC, it really is a mess and very slummy----never. Definitely a nice place to visit but I'd never want to Iive there! I would settle in Brigantine or Ventnor, etc and just drive into AC.

With the CRDA supposedly paying for some facade improvements on the Boardwalk storefronts, maybe this could be extended to other parts of town? Considering that the overwhelming majority of crimes and incidents take place well away from the casinos, the biggest problem close to the Boardwalk is "appearance". AKA, a lot of the housing and businesses have a "tired" look to them more than anything else.

momndad 1958... I would like to move to AC, too, but housing options are somewhat limited, and despite the poverty away from the Boardwalk, AC is not exactly a cheap place to live. Cheaper than Philly, maybe, but....

I am rooting very hard for this city to make its non-casino comeback. It is improving, but it has a ways to go. Still, I love the town! <grin>

I have lived in the greater Atlantic City area for over 45 years. I have lived in Ventnor, Margate, Ocean City and now in Egg Harbor Township.

I agree with the previous posts about Atlantic City, too congested, too much crime and too much costs, you might as well stay in Phiadelphia. The off shore communities give you the best value for your buck. Depending on your age there is a nice 55 and over community in Egg Harbor Township called the Village Grande at English Creek still building new homes by D.R. Horton. They have another community near where I live that is complete and I have heard good things about that community. Occasionally you will see homes for sale there. The only problem with Egg Harbor Township, Galloway Townhip and Hamilton Township is the growth going on which is increasing school taxes. Most of these cities however are safe and quiet and depending on where you buy a 15-20 minute ride to AC or any of the Downbeach beaches. If you find a place within a mile of the AC Expressway or Garden State Parkway you can get most places rather quickly.

Good luck.
