Sunrise Royal Makadi - snorkelling & children

Hello!!! We're looking to book a holiday for August next year to SRM. Have read the reviews, just wondering what the snorkelling is like off the beach and what the beach is like for children? I have a 10yr old and a 5yr old.

We were going to Turkey in a villa, but that fell through, so are looking to get something booked up pdq!!!!

Hope the hotel is as good as the reviews sound!!!

Thanks in advance!

we stayed next door in the makadi spa. the beach isn't very family friendly - its manmade as there's a reef right off the shore. there are lots of sunbeds etc and a nice wide promenade between the hotels and beach area. most of the sunbeds are on a kind of platform just about a very narrow bit of sand. most families stayed by the swimming pools. however, the upside of this is that you're only a minute's walk through shallow waters, some rocky coral (need beach shoes in the water) then you can snorkel right along the edge of the reef seeing allsorts of beautiful fish, so what you lose with one you really do gain with another

The Resta Reef has a very nice beach for kiddies also a nice shallow lagoon they can snorkle in.

Although if itstoo windy you can't get in off the jetty

The beach at sunrise royal Makadi is very gentle and great for kids of all ages, probably the best beach section in the bay, for snorkelling just walk next door to the fort and you will see an amazing house reef in very shallow water,...
