Egypt Vs Tunisia

Hi we are going to Egypt for the first time middle of July for 2 wks. We holidayed in Tunisia 2 years ago and was just wondering if anyone has been to both, what they are like in comparison. I am expecting Egypt to be very much like Tunisia am i right in thinking this?

The climate is different, dry heat on the Sinai shores versus humid Mediterranean and the underwater flora and fauna in the Red-Sea is unequalled. Otherwise the camels look pretty much alike.

Hi

We have been to both and love both countries, yes they are similar cultures, the people are warm and friendly, the Egyptian men are a bit more lecherous than Tunisians but nothing you cant cope with.

Egypt is about 8-10oC hotter than Tunisian in our experiance and as 'hiker' said its dry heat, hot winds.

You will have a fabulous time, we're off to Hurghada this year, 11th June, cant wait.

Thanks for the replies. When we went to Tunisia we found when we ventured out, most bars sold none alcoholic drinks, is it the same in Egypt?

Hi,

You will get alcohol but it may not be up to the standard you find in the UK!

I've been to both (tunisia 4 times, Egypt numerous times & not just Sharm) & Egypt is my preference but it's very subjective.

You will sind similarities & subtle differences.

Re: the men - I actually had more trouble in Tunisia! lol!

We got more hassle from shopkeepers in Tunisia than Egypt. People told us that Egypt is worse but we found it be rather tame in comparison. In the market in Sousse they would block the path and not let us around, we had to physically push them out of our way. The Egyptians, whilst persistent, at least allowed us to continue walking by if we wished.

We went to Sousse one night and the only night, it was really scary, even tho we were a group of six. Someone tried to pick pocket our friend, then we got a load of abuse from a taxi driver because we didn't want to use his taxi as we wanted a tuk tuk back to the resort.

My hubby described it like, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

I have been to Tunisia and Egypt and I say Im for Egypt all the way!

I expected them to be very similar but I was so wrong.

Egypt is definetly my favourite out of the two and it has a much warmer climate too.

Enjoy x
