Honeymoon hotel

Can anyone suggest a nice hotel in Sharm. We are going in October for our honeymoon and would like a nice hotel.

Hi,

You really need to decide on which part of Sharm you'd prefer & then x-refer reviews for hotels in that bit.

Sharm is divided into 3 main areas where there are shops, bars & restaurants, namely the up & coming Nabq (a long main street with shops, hotels & development ongoing) Na’ama Bay (built in the 1990s & considered by some as the centre) & the Ras Um Sid / Hadaba area, where the “old” market is situated. It’s only “old” in comparison to Na’ama as that area was built in the 1980s. There are some nice hotels there, like the Iberotel Palace but also some cheaper ones which are not up to the standard which some seek. I stayed in one in this area (thankfully for only 48 hrs) & would never return. It’s not my preferred area anyway; we like Na’ama Bay although some say they don’t like the hassle there……but we have found, when walking around, that there is hassle in any of the 3 areas. (See the tips thread for possible scams & advice on hassle; it’s at the top of the forum & marked as a “Sticky”.)

We prefer B+B but AI is the more common option. We also like to stay in Na’ama so we don’t have to bother with taxis to get anywhere. They are plentiful but it’s a bit wearing, having to haggle every time. There are government stated prices (visible on some large boards) but it’s hard to get the drivers to stick to them or even come down in price to be anywhere near them. If it’s your 1st time it can be daunting (advice & link to correct prices in the tips “taxi” section).

Some of the AI hotels are pretty large complexes but one offers both AI & the B+B / HB options & is a smaller hotel in Na’ama Bay – Iberotel Lido. It gets good reports on the forum.

Other B+B / HB options in Na’ama are the Jolie Ville Resort & Casino (where we go)

& the Hilton Fayrouz.

AI hotels which you may want to consider are the Jolie Ville Golf & Sultan Gardens (both in / near Sharks Bay, which is about 7 mins out of Na’ama by taxi; there are no shops / restaurants around them tho).

The Savoy seems to fare well on TA too & that has the new complex of Soho Square on the edge of it.

The Holiday Village in Nabq is popular with families.

AI hotels in Na’ama worth checking maybe the Marriott, Novotel & Sofitel.

Have a look on the resort maps at where various hotels are located & bear that in mind, in conjunction with what I have said about where the shops etc are situated.

You may also want to consider the Savoy or Sierra or Four Seasons.

If money is no object you would not go wrong with the Four Seasons. We have been to Sharm four times now, we have just booked again and will be stopping at the Ritz Carlton in a club room. Worth every penny with first class service.

It all depends what you are looking for!

If you need any questions answering please do send me a personal message and I will help where I can.

Hope you have a great wedding and a fantastic time in Sharm on your honeymoon.

Regards

PAW
