My husband and I, both 30, are looking for a holiday in Sharm. Having never been before we are uncertain which area to look at. We are looking at beachfront hotels, Savoy and Hilton Waterfalls have caught our eye. My concern is that although these hotels are very self-contained and have everything we might need in terms of restaurants and bars, there might not be enough places to dine/wine outside the hotel. Especially given 5* hotels charge extortionate amounts for their food and drink we want the option to go to other (cheaper) restaurants elsewhere. I don't want to be ripped off paying 5* prices all week (we won't be going all inclusive). We don't want to go anywhere too loud and we are not interested in nightclubs, just pleasant restaurants, cafes and bars (preferably with a good view!!). Any suggestions? I've heard Naama Bay is loud and harassing, whereas I get the impression Shark's Bay is more of a shopping district. Even with Soho Square, I think we may want somewhere a little bit more laid back. Please help. Also is it true that you can't enter the sea except via the jetties because of the coral? I read a review that even the Savoy, with its long sandy beach, had this problem. Does anyone know of any hotel beaches which you can wade into?... very important to us. Thanks in advance.
