Surfing at the great sea reef

Hi I would like to know if there is any surf spots along the great sea reef and what would be the best months of the year for surf here?.Also what level of surfer would the surf be suitable for?

I cant seem to find any info on surfing around Labasa so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards

Jeana

Hi Jeana,

Surf season runs from Nov - March. Not sure about the level required as unfortunately we havn't been there during the surf season.

Edited to add: You will need to get a boat out to the Great Sea Reef from where you are staying. Are you staying at Nukubati ??

Thanks for your reply

We will be staying near Savu Savu which I think is about 1 hr 20 mins fr labasa.

Do you know how long it would take in a boat to get to the reef ? And the best place to access it from ?

Kind regards

Jeana

That's a long way to go for a surf :)

Our trip to The Great Sea Reef was about a 45 min trip in a fairly fast boat from Nukubati Resort which is an hour's drive from Labasa (and a 10 min boat trip to the Island).

There is Pamela Resort close to Labasa town that may organise a trip for you.

Correction to my above bad spelling - Palmlea Farms, Labasa.

Thanks for your info.

This sounds like it would be a day trip that you would plan ahead for once you knew what the surf conditions were like..
