Things to do

We are thinking of staying. Is this close to markets, village attractions, Shopping or can you get easy access to them without paying a fortune. Thankyou

So you are thinking of staying Lautoka? Yes it has markets, you can village visit but need to be invited or go with tour group. You can use public transport to get to Nadi town for better shopping than in Lautoka. No real advantage in staying in Lautoka than to staying near Nadi, Newtown Beach area has a lot of well priced places to stay eg. Bluewater Lodge. You can do many activities in the area by bus or taxi.At the airport or hotels you will find a tour desk with a huge variety of things to do.

Hi Brocky, you may want to re-post this question under the heading of First Landing which appears to be the resort you are interested in. We have plenty of regular posters who have stayed there and can give you the info you're after.

Hi there, we have stayed at FL 3 times now and have 2 more holidays coming up in Aug and Xmas / New Year. We really enjoy staying there and while biased will attempt to provide a balanced overview!

The resort itself is what many people think of as traditional Fiji. Small, with only 30 or so bures over 3 different types it caters for all budgets, provides personalised service, a more than acceptable (tidal) beach for its location, refurbished pool area, 25 minutes to the airport, an excellent restaurant / bar and a good range of in house activities.

Vuda Marina is next door where there is a general store, café, restaurant and bar – and makes for a good alternative. The resort itself has its own wharf with selected day trips stopping off and picking you up almost from your front door. External day trips can be organised through the on-site Rosies tour desk

People do raise concerns regarding the oil tanks that you pass as you approach the resort, but once in the gate there is no effect whatsoever. It is also a little off the beaten track (this appeals to us) but there is a bus almost at the gate to take you to Lautoka or Nadi for only a few FJD or circa $25 taxi ride. It is no chore and we like to catch a local bus to one of the above for supplies / shopping and then taxi back. It is certainly not 5 stay but if you want that join the masses at Denarau Island or Coral Coast resorts.

Some folk like to use the resort at the start or end of a holiday, we find more than enough to do to keep ourselves occupied for 10 days or so each time. Usual story, you can do as much or as little as you like.

The resort’s main feature though is its amazing staff. The husband and wife Executive Chef and Manager duo and everyone else you come in contact with work hard to ensure you have a great stay. If something’s up, let them know and they will do their best to put it right.

If you’ve looked at their website, everything you see on there is correct and accurate. Hope this helps and feel free to ask any further questions or send me a message.

HI guys (First Landing fans ;) what's the cost of a taxi from FL to the airport? Or do they offer transfers? Thinking of booking a night there prior to departure on our next trip.

Hi Dianz. Transfer is $25 I think. You can organise a taxi from the marina but wouldn't be much cheaper if at all
