Kololi ATM machine.

Just back from The Gambia having stayed in Kololi. Getting money from the cashpoint was nothing short of a nightmare! It was constantly empty. Taxi divers would hang around offering to take you to another but having talked to other holiday makers that cashpoint was generally empty too. You can only withdraw a max of 2000 dalassi (£50) but you can use your card 4 or 5 times. This means that when eventually cash is available people tend to use their card many times. For example if you are in a queue of ten people and they are all using it 4 0r 5 times you can imagine how long you may have to wait. I did hear of some people queuing for an hour or so. Unfortunately you cannot use your card to withdraw cash over the bank counter. My advice would be to take a wad of English cash. Lock it away in a safe and change it as you need it. Plenty of places to change currency.

This is what we have all been saying in every post , take cash!!!!!

If you do need to use an ATM use it around 9am and it should be full at that time

the banks open at 8am but don't fill the machine up straight away

Regular visitors to Gambia will tell you forget your wallet full of cards...give them a break as well as yourself!!

Take cash or travellers cheques.
