Chip & Pin in India

I am visiting Goa and Mumbai next month and wondered what the credit and debit card provisions are? Do they have chip and pin or is it signature only and do you need other ID when using your cards?

Advice welcome.

Majority of establishments in India use signature only and no separate ID is required. Maybe they will require some form of verification for high value transactions, though I have never been asked personally.

Some establishments have the chip and pin system needed for specific cards. But its mostly swipe and sign.

Hi, I didn't need to use my credit card but it was signature for my debit card, I was advised to notify my bank and credit card company that I was going to India as the banks sometimes block accounts, have a great time, Sher.x
