We have just got back from two weeks in the Silver Sands, Candolim. Stayed in the standard room which was tiny compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Goa but it had a large balcony and a good location.
This was our third time in North Goa.
Everyone we met (resturants/shops/beach shacks)seemed desperate for business. The beach sellers were impossible and have taken to queing behind each other to show you their goods. I don't know why they think you are going to buy from them when you have already told the first one no.
We don't usually go to the same beach shack everyday - we just go to any we fancy. However, the lads at Spottys found this offensive and came down the beach to confront us. We told them that we will go wherever we want as it is our holiday but it put us off the beach a bit after that.
We did two trips - Cola Beach and Jungle Book. Cola Beach was fantastic - so quite and peaceful. I could have stayed in one of the tents for a week at least. It was our second time doing Jungle Book (took my dad away this year and he wanted to do the trip). The elephants were great and the smelly mud hut was ok for the night.
We had a great time, ate lots of curry, drank Kingfisher and bought plenty of sandels.
Have decided that we will go to South Goa next time - maybe stay in beach huts for a week. Candolim is great but it has become a bit to familiar.
