Nice hotel in Goa: Anything open in the second half of May?

Hello,

I was looking for a nice small hotel in Goa. Ideally a boutique hotel on a beach but can compromise. Initial dates were May 27th to 30th. Contacted Casa Candolim, Amarya and Casa Colvale. All closed or no availability.

Could you advise a hotel that would be open? I am also looking at coming a week earlier (May 29th through 23rd) in case more hotels would be open.

Thanks for any recommendation!

The main season is between November and April - many places close at end of April.

Hi the Goan Hertige Villiage in Arissom in the south of Goa, will be open, the only problem with there is it is very quiet. Nice hotel i think about 3 star, very clean rooms cleaned every day, lovely gardens and only a couple of minutes walk to the beach, were there is a very good beach shack, not sure if that will still be there in may, i know it has a lot of Domestic holiday makers out of the UK season. The up side is you can get to anywhere from here. hope this is a bit of help :)) Gel

La Calypso look's very nice and it is where they held the Miss World contest a few years ago,so should be OK

It is right in the middle of Baga and just down the road from Brito's a popular place to eat on the beach. You should be able to barter the rate down or look at booking online with a discounting agent.

Hi Spartac

The Highland Beach hotel stays open all years around,

its very big not a Boutique hotel

have you tried 360 degrees boutique hotel candolim think it may stay open?

Or you could stay up in Panjim you would have a lot of choice? Maybe a lot more livier up there as all shacks will be closed end of May

Mims

Thank you all. I have one confirmation from Siolim, which is a very tempting option. Except it's not on the beach.

Also, how should I chose the location? I hear about north and south. Candolim and Panjim. Not sure where is best.

For me nice beach with nice hotel is key. I guess if not far from activity it's convenient (restaurant, stroll, etc) but since I'm not a Party animal not a Must.

Thx!

Siolim is a tiny village in the middle of nowhere and has nothing going on even in season, You would have to use a taxi to go anywhere and Apora were you might find a restaurant open is about a 15 minute drive, a bit longer to Baga

OK, so it's up to the final 3 contestants. All in South Goa.

- Alila Diwa (Majorda Beach)

Pro: Nice Design and Boutique Hotel

Con: Not straight on the beach (but there is a hotel shuttle) + not great service

- Hyatt Arossim beach, near Causalim): Looks good overall. The only reason I would go with Alila (almost next door?) is because former is boutiquer rather than resort.

- Intercontinental Lalit: was not even on my radar until I read that the far south beaches are a lot nicer than the others. Although was not impressed by the pictures on TA

I'm not sure how much time I will be able to spend on the beach with the temperatures being so high at the end of may. And it's only 3 days, doesn't make a lot of difference.

My priorities:

- To relax, not visit

- Get outside from the hotel from time to time (but no party guy).

- If restaurants are nearby great, if not it's not a problem either

- BTW, Traveling by myself, if hat makes a difference

Any recommendations? All these options cost pretty much the same and are affordable this time of the year

The Alila Diwa is pretty new (opened in January, I think), so should be fine. I don't know how regular the buses are. There isn't much else around there, so you'd need to get a taxi to go anywhere else apart from Alex Place, which I think is open year round.

The Park Hyatt (I assume this is the hotel) is near a couple of good restaurants, Balton's for one.

From either of the above you can get a taxi to Majorda or to Colva where there are plenty of places to eat. In Colva there's Fishlands, Jungle Junction, Caji's (just to name three) and in Majorda Shangri-La, Pentagon and just outside there's what was Sinatra's Chilly and I can't remember it's new name (taxi drivers will know it as Sinatra's Chilly), and Martin's Corner, which is near Betalbatim.

Intercontinental is pretty remote and I've only been there once so can't vouch for it.

Beaches will be quiet everywhere and as far as I know all the shacks are either down or on their way down.

You could try Coconut Creek at Bogmalo, fits the boutique bit, only 20 rooms, choice of air conditioned or not, only around 400m from the beach and it remains open all year. See separate post re restaurants open in the late season / monsoon in Bogmalo. Other benefits, it's not far from the airport, is central so easy to get to both north or south Goa, and it's very nice!
