My doctor told me I don't need Malaria tablets....

I went to my docs few weeks bk, for jabs that I didn't need as I had them earlier this yr when I went to the North of India.

I asked about malaria tablets for Goa and she told me I don't need them. I'm now worried and I got in 1wks time to Goa!!

Do I really need them?? I felt my gp knew best but having 2nd thoughts now....

I would go back to your GP and ask what information he/she is basing that advice on. I have just been to my GP and he confirmed that I should take malaria tablets for my trip to Goa in January. This is our 7th trip to Goa and we always take malarone. Lx

Have a look on the world health organization site. You should get the definative answer there. most of us already have and we take anti malarials.

I think there were over 2000 deaths from malaria in goa in 2012.

You are obviously concerned, so for your own peace of mind and to ensure you are relaxed and not worried whilst on your holiday why not take Anti Malaria despite your Doctors advice.

Although, if you do decide to take them, check with your GP, the best ones to take.

Have a wonderful trip.

You still have time to purchase and take Avloclor and pauladrine from 1 week before you go, just. Bottom line though, I don't think one day would make that much difference.

Just read my last post, wrong again. should be, 2000 cases of Malaria in Goa in 2012. teach me to read through what I've written.
