First of all, you WILL need a visa!

Secondly, even though I love trains, I would suggest you fly. Perhaps fly from Bombay to Trivandrum in Kerala, then go back to Goa by train, then fly from Goa to Bombay, etc.

Hi my blog gives some ideas of where to stay, and trains to catch. Goa is a good halfway point between mumbai and Kerala.

See the following:

www.keralabackwater.com

The best beaches are in south Goa, seek medical advice with regards to the cuurent vaccinations required and of course anti malarials. You do need visas from www.vfsglobal.co.uk and the cuurent price is approx £92.20 each.
