In a nutshell, personal choice. Quiet in the south or busy in the north. Each to their own. Whatever you decide have a great time!

Try both....we based ourselves in the north ( Calangute ) had a couple of nights in a beach hut in the south ( Agonda )preferred the chaos of the north to be honest, Agonda too quiet

If you put north vs south in the search box you will find plenty of threads on this subject.

We prefer the south but it all depends what you want from your holiday.

South beaches are beautiful, quieter and bigger distances to travel for sighseeing, shopping, etc. Taxis too are generally more expensive in the south.

North beaches are crowded, busier but shorter distnaces to travel for sighseeing, shopping, etc. You can bargain with the taxis to get a good rate.

Whatever you do, Goa is just not beaches, so explore the hinterlands, the beautiful viallges, riverine backwaters, etc. ...in short, explore off the beaten track ...you'll love what you see!
