What is the best currency to take to Goa, India

Hi

Am travelling to Goa in December, and would like advice on which currency is best.

I have heard that American Dollars are the best, but have had conflicting information.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Just take stirling , cash or travellers cheques. You can also use your debit cards in ATM's.

SallyAnn, if you are using your debit card you may have to inform your bank that you will be using it in Goa (depends who you bank with).

Tour operators still tell people to take dollars and I have no idea why. Like everyone else says, just take sterling, or a debit card or some TCs for back up.

Hi Mulzy, I agree with your comment, credit card or ATM card is the best way of payment which makes your money or cash safe from the pick pocketers, but you need to tell your bank in which country you are going to use your card. And also carry some cash for short payments.

Pounds Sterling is perfectly fine to bring. No need for USD at all.
