Is VOA going to be temporary or permanent?

May sound silly, but wanted to ask if this will be there for only a certain period, or for good?

Thanks

How long is a piece of string?

At the moment it's permanent, but we all know how permanent permanent is. Sorry to be cynical.

I think the Goa long timers have learned over the years not to get too excited about anything new until it's opened (e.g. airport) or has been introduced (e.g. VOA).

And we don't expect anything to be set in stone.

Visa on arrival was first introduced I think in 2010 for a period of one year for citizens of Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Singapore. Then in 2011 this facility was extended to citizens of Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Laos, Myanmar and Indonesia. This scheme is still in place.

The new Visa on Arrival scheme is reported to be in place before October and that's as much as anyone knows. We have some idea of how it will operate and can only assume that it will be ongoing once in place. We will just have to wait and see.

Current fees are shown here:

But there are lots of factors that may change the price.

Visa-on-arrival, discussed in a number of threads, may be introduced from October.

I believe VFS's contract may be coming to an end so that may have an impact on price.

Also, biometric data has been mentioned which may mean additional costs to actually get the visa on top of the actual cost.

Mmmm. Thanks for that. Almost doubled since last I went for UK citizens. Surprising way of boosting tourism which I understand is the reason for VOA. Wanting to grab the 'last minute' holiday maker. £92 a tad steep for a visa for a week or two. But thats life I guess.
