Well Baz,

Its not just us foreigners who are getting ripped off by these thieves. They are equal oppurtunity crooks taking from their own countrymen.

Its the same in many parts of the world. Phuket in particular has a massive problem with Taxi Mafia.

It has to be one of the biggest complaints of the tourists anywhere you go.

We gave up on Taxis many years ago and now get a scooter. We only use a taxi too and from the airport.

I know this is not an option for many people but many I spoke to last season were getting the bus.

Ditto that Bren..

We do exactly the same.. Classic example of the taxi drivers shooting themselves in the foot.

If you are staying in Cavellosim there is a regular bus service running from Mobor to Margoa.

A trip to Varca for example costs about 10p!

We used it nearly every day:it saved a fortune in exorbitant taxi fares.

4. Re: taxi mafia,

You are right Bob they have shot themselves in the foot we always got a taxi from De Mellos down to Mobor but the prices kept going up I think the last time we used a taxi it was about 200 rupees one way so now like many many more we catch the bus from the same place and pay 10 rupees each way but it's not just about the money it's the smart ar-- attitude these taxi drivers have and their arrogance
