Short visit to Ahmedabad-Itinerary suggestions please

Hello Everybody ,

My husband and I are coming to Ahmedabad next week for a conference for 4 days.

This will be my first trip to AMD. We will be staying at The Fern and are vegetarians.

I have done some research on TA, and would like to include the following places of interest post conference:

1)Sabarmati ashram

2)calico museum

3)Kankaria lake

4)Adalaj step well

5)Akshardham temple

6)Sidi saiyed mosque

7)Hathee Singh temple

8)Iskcon temple

9)Jama masjid

10)Shaking minarets

11)Swamyinaranyan temple

12)Dada hari ni vav

13)Conflictorium

14) shopping in-CG road, ratanpole.Or any other places suggested??

I would love to take the Heritage Walk...(if husband gets up early enough :)

Can we visit all the above attractions in 4 days .Is it doable without being rushed?

Please can I have itinerary with veg restaurants suggestions nearby??

Our interest's are art, craft and culture.

All responses greatly appreciated .

Thank you,

kayura

Fern hotel is on S.G. Highway, and little far from old city where most of the attractions are located.

so give one day for old city as your special interest for art, craft and culture or manage your time accodingly.

Heritage walk from swaminarayan temple, kalupur at 8 am.

it will cover -

Swaminarayan Temple, Kalupur

Kavi dalpatram chowk, Lambeshwar Ni Pol

Calico Dome

Kala Ramji Mandir, Haja Patel ni Pol

Shantinathji Mandir, Haja Patel ni Pol

Kuvavala Khancha, Doshivada ni Pol

Jagvallabh Mandir, Nisha Pol

Zaveri vad

Sambhavnath ni Khadki

Chaumukhji ni Pol

Doshivada ni Pol

Astapadji Mandir

Harkunvar Shethani ni haveli

Fernandez Bridge

Chandla pol

Muharat Pol

Manek baba’s mandir, Manek Chowk

Rani-no-haziro

Badshah-no-haziro

Jumma Masjid

After that you can proceed to shaking minearets and then sidi saiyed mosque, have vegetarian lunch at house of MG, it is just opposite to sidi saiyed mosque. it is very famous for its heritage haveli building and lovely authentic Gujarati thali. you can read reviews of House of mg on TA.

after that you can cover calico museum and hathee singh temple, both are in the shahibaug area. there is one more attraction recently opened in shahibaug - sardar patel museum, it is recently inaugurated by our PM manmohansingh and CM Narendra Modiji. you can also take include it in your plan. nice place.

if you still have time then cover sabarmati ashram in evening. or you can proceed to hotel. have dinner on the way, there are so many good veg restaurants on sg. highway.

on another day, you can cover conflictorium, shop at ratanpole (you will definitely spend lots of time with lots of varieties of sarees, kurtas, traditional clothes), then relax at kankaria lake. go in the evening and choose weekday for this (weekend will be crowded). you can have dinner at stalls in kankaria or there are lot many options outside kankaria lake.

Cover iskcon temple, adalaj step well, and akshardham in one day.

start your day with morning prayer at iskcon temple, then proceed to adalaj step well ( heavy breakfast recommended as there are not any eating out near to adalaj step well). you can easily spend around 2 hours at adalaj step well (have your camera with you). then proceed to akshardham temple, you can spend rest of the day here, many attractions inside. don't miss evening musical fountain show. you can have good vegetarian food in the food court. try Gujarati Khichadi and kadhi at there, it is really nice.

then proceed to your hotel.

hope this will help.

thanks,

Kuldeep

Welcome kayura,

alternative if you miss early morning heritage walk, then House of MG arranges heritage walk at 10 pm, so you can join it post dinner.

if you are near to old city or sabarmati ashram, have dinner at Patang restaurant - its a revolving restaurant at the height of 150 feet. nice view of old and new city as well as sabarmati riverfront from there. visited by many celebrities. it was a tallest structure in ahmedabad in past. any auto driver will know about it.\

restaurants near fern hotel - Gordhan thal (famous for gujarati thali), Yanki Sizzlers, Curries, 440 restaurant near PVR, Mirch masala

Distance from Fern hotel to Old city : min 30 minutes in auto, 45 minutes during pick hours

Enjoy and have a very nice trip ahead.

Thanks and regards,

Kuldeep

on Monday, Kankaria remains closed so arrange your trip accordingly. best time to visit kankaria lake after 5 pm.

how to get there - segway ride

just enter into Kankarial lake from any entry gate. and walk around the lake (approximate circumference of lake is 2.3 km). You will get all the attractions one by one. beautiful walkway is made around the lake with lush greenery.
