It usually takes 6-8 hours depending upon your stamina. Darshan usually takes 1 hour in total from shoe house & back. Bhairon darshan takes max 2 hours. The new trek is easy & 1 KM less than older one.

You may not get accomodation at bhawan untill you have pre bookings.

Jai Mata di !!!

Jammu to Katra is 48 Kms. It will take 2 hours(approx) from katra. You can reach by taxi (rs 200/-)and bus(rs 30-40/-)

after reaching katra,no need to book hotel as you can book hotel in " Bhawan".Time to reach Bhwan will be 6-7 hours depnd upon you speed. while climbing you will come across " Ardkuwari ". The new road is divided just before " Ardkuwari ".. Jan will be very chilled. So take proper wollen clothes.

Hello anilsoniin

As you say your train arrival time at jammu tawi near 9am. so now i suggest some idea for your next journey.

now take taxi or bus from jammu bus stand .and after taking bus or taxi it takes almost 2 to 3 hours for reach katra.

after arrival at katra, now check in at hotel . after do some rest and fresh . start your treek to mata vaishno devi bhawan, your treek almost 14 km. so carry some water with you and some warm clothes and jackets with you. and how much time required for treek its depands on you. you can say stamina also. for your information i want to tell you that 6pm to 8pm is aarti timing in mata vaishno devi bhwan. at that time no one pilgrim allowded for mata vaishno devi darshan.so after mata vaishno devi darshan.

you can start your treek to baba bahirav nath if some power left in you ?.otherwise you can stayovernight at mata vaishno devi bhawan. and start your treek in early in the morning to baba bhairav nath .after darshan of baba bhairav nath you can treek to katra.and can rest in your hotel.you can enjoy local market also.

Thank you

Vishal chauhan

Almost everything is mentioned by other members and it is similar to my opinion.

Just want to give you a heads up for the trek. Do not take the stairs in between. Though it seems like a shortcut to cut the distance but it will be very very hard to trek after taking the stairs and very stressful too.

It still depends from person to person but this is what I experienced so wanted to share.

Have a safe trip and pack loads of warm clothes. jai mata di
