Hi,

7 adults, 3 kids (below 8 years) and infant are planning to visit Leh in July 4th to 11, 2014 directly from Delhi/Chennai

Can you please provide an itenary which will cover all the places in Leh? And, is it good to stay night with kids and grand parents in Numbrah and Pangong?

Please suggests the best itenary with good hotels/packages.

Kids do acclamize well in compare to adult. Nubra is 1000 ft lower than leh. At panong you will reach on 6th day so it will not create any issue. But still for your grand parents, consult your family doctor before planing trip.

8 days itinerary is as below:

Day-1: Arrival at Leh. Take rest. Evening visit to Shanti Stupa and leh market. Overnight at Leh.

Day-2: Visit gurudwara, magnetic hills, sangam, alchi and likir monastery.

Overnight at Leh.

Day-3: Visit leh palace, thiksey, Hemmis and shey monastery. Overnight at Leh.

Day-4: Leh to Nubra Valley. Overnight at Hunder.

Day-5: Nubra valley to Leh. Overnight at Leh.

Day-6: Leh to Pangong. Overnight at pangong.

Day-7: Pangong to Leh. Overnight at Leh.

Day-8: Departure from leh.

Hi

A very good & standard itinerary

Just consult your doctor for grand parents & infant

During Sham valley trip you must visit Lamayuru monastery ahead of Alchi monastery

Hi

33rd KALACHAKRA testival is being held in Leh from 3rd July to 14th July, His Holiness Dalai Lama will be there, huge rush, Your travel time also falls during that period,

Shortage of hotel rooms as well as taxis . Better take a package or at least book rooms in hotel

Children do no better or worse at altitude than their parents , on the average . the big problem is judging symptoms in toddlers - anything that is not normal you'll have to assume is altitude sickness , and go down. There is only one proven age factor : the 50+ group cope better - again , on the average. Useless as individual prediction , but there is certainly not any reason to worry over age alone as a risk factor.

( BTW , a fact most Ladakhis today are aware of : the Khardung La is not the worlds highest road , or even Ladakhs highest : http://korta.nu/highest )
