Vacation help needed : 6-13th Sep trip in/around Bangalore

Hello TA friends,

We are group of 7 university students planning for a trip from 6thSep to 13thSep in/around Bangalore.

We are thinking something like "Bangalore-Mysore-Ooty-Coorg".

But we are not sure exactly what to see in these place.

It will be very much helpful if you can provide some details and help us to design our plan/trip.

Thanks

It entirely depends what you want to see at these places. Do research for each of these places individually, you'll get what you are looking for. You can use Wikitravel for basic research.

Considering you have only 7 days, I would highly recommend some wildlife experience either at Bandipur or at Mudumalai forest on the way to Ooty from Mysore. In that case you can pick one between Ooty and Coorg to have a comfortable trip.

If you are on a budget, try to plan as much travel as possible by bus. Starting with Bangalore you can go to Mysore and check it out( you need a day there), Ooty is about 4-5 hours drive from Mysore, you could spend a couple of days there, if you would like to spend time in a hill resort, though it is now a lot more commercial than before. To go to Coorg, you would need to come back to Mysore and then do another 3 hour road trip to Madikeri. So in summary, a couple of days in Bangalore, 4-5 days for the rest of it and a week is over.

If you give us some idea about the kind of things that you would like to do, it is easier to make some recommendations. For example there is a very nice temple at Nanjangud, aboyt 30 mins drive from Mysore, or a wild game sanctuary at Nagarhole about 2 hours+ drive from Mysore, or a Tibetan colony at Bylekuppe enroute to Coorg from Mysore, etc

Thanks you guys,

Sorry, I should have mentioned it before, none of us can drive.

So we all are dependent on public transports.

It will be very kind if you guys stretch then plan daywise as per AshisRoy mentioned.

If you guys cant drive-not a good idea anyway-you will definitely need to stretch your budget to rent a car for some of these places-going by public transportation could end up taking you far too much time.

'Drive' means to be driven by the hired car. I have no idea about your budget. Since you are a group of 7, you need a Tempo Traveller (AC). The rental for the vehicle for 7 days will be Rs.25000 including the taxes and night stay of the driver.

Will that suit your budget?

It will be difficult to follow the itinerary by using local buses.
