A car and driver for 8 hours 80 km likely to cost around Rs 1000.However if you stay in South Bangalore a walk through Cubbon Park, a visit to the Bull Temple in Basavangudi and Tippu's Palace would give you some insight.

Good place for shopping for silks, hand made crafts, and accessories.A few nice galleries too. Skye,Cinnamon and one on Cunnigham Road.

Having a look at the morning gallops at the race Course and stopping by at The Taj West End next door for tea may interest you too.

If u are keen on.local sight seeing at affordable cost, book a local sight seeing thru KSTDC.

www.karnatakaholidays.net

Its a Govt. Tourism venture.

Else you can book a local cab too vth tariffs varying depending on the duration.

Lalbagh botanical garden, bull temple, tipu fort, Bangalore palace, venkatappa art gallery, cubbon park, central library, etc can be seen.

Incase of an additional day, plan a visit to Bannerghatta national park and butterfly park.

Shop for genuine sandalwood at Cauvery(Karnataka Govt Shop) on M G road - Brigade road junction.

Hi Chelsea. Good replies above.

I have been to Bangalore several times. Will be there again this December meeting Indian friends. The central part, MG Road, Brigade Road, Church street etc has everything you want. Bars, good restauraants, etc and is within walking distance of Cubbon Park, the Botanical Gardens and some lovely old British era buildings.

Other places as mentioned above are a rickshaw/taxi ride.

Don't know where you would be staying but bear in mind that the airport is a good hour's ride away.

There is a great bar called the 13th floor which is in church Street which has great views over the city. The hotel we usually stay at is in Church Street which is the Highgates Hotel. Highly recommended and not expensive.

Anway if you need any more information I will try to help.
