Sharmila,

During reservations,you can opt for ladies quota,which will ensure that you get berths allotted among ladies.

It is absolutely safe,but take basic safety precautions.

Also,travelling by AC class will ensure safety from unauthorized hawkers & other travellers entering into your compartment.
