Spare week - help!

Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I was going to be working for 4 weeks in India next summer but my plans have now slightly changed meaning I have a spare week (holiday) in Kerala before starting my work in Sri Lanka.

I was wondering where you would recommend on spending a week? Is Varkala a nice place to spend a week? Obviously I would want to venture out and explore. What would be the MUST DOs and SEEs in Kerala. A trip on the back waters is a must on my itinary but has anybody got any other suggestions.

Thanks in advance!
