Munnar question

Hello

We are interested in seeing tea plantations. Is Munnar the best place from Kochi?? Am not really interested in the other attractions around Munnar so am wondering if it is worth the 4-5 hr drive or whether there are other tea plantations closer to either Kochi or Kottayam?

Thanks in advance

Amanda

There might be other places, but the beauty of the rolling hills of plantations in Munnat is unmatched, and the climate is good.

Munnar is best place for seeing tea plantations. You can also take Eco nature tour through Eravikulam National Park's Tea Plantations with a local guide. Have a nice trip.

Cheers

Munnar is the best place to enjoy tea plantations,

And

1. Vandiperiyar - Tea-plantations on the way to Thekkady

2. Valparai- Coc hin to Athirampally-vazhachal water falls, Peringal Kuttu, Sholayar Wild life Sanctury and valparai(Valaparai is in Tamil Nadu)

Tea-plantaions are in high-ranges, above 2000 to 3000 ft from sea-level, and you cann;t viist tea-plantations without traveling 4-5 hrs from kochi

Munnar is best.

Also I would like to inform you about my mistake, never book any tour with hungrybags.Com.

It is worst company I ever seen, they are different ( acting good, helping) before you book and different ( real bad people with irresponsible replies) after you booked

If you got any problem during tour by their mistakes you have to solve it on your own

@ Aj

Yes - Munnar is among the best places near Kochi to see tea plantations - for a few reasons

a) just about 20 minutes drive out of Munnar and you will be surrounded by tea plantations. Stop where you like, see them for as long as you wish. In many, you can see plantation workers at work with their bags on the backs. Definitely fantastic scenes

b) being a tourist haven, the choice of hotels, lodges in Munnar makes it easier for a tourist

c) Munnar has lots of taxis / tourist cars available for the above (avoid going for autos - they may be cheaper, but are painstakingly slow on the steep slopes that you have to negotiate to go to the tea plantations)

d) There are a few tea plantation stays you can choose to stay in (if you prefer staying in the midst of a plantation, rather than in the town) like Windermere estate, the tea sanctuary, etc.
