Trip to Kerala in December

Folks,

We group of friends are planning to do a trip to Kerala in December and we are in mood to do all the booking well in advance, lets say prior 3-4 months.

Can someone please help us in planning the trip ? We will have around 6-7 days excluding the travel time.

We would like to includes places which have beautiful landscapes, important temples, wild life sanctuaries[not sure if Bandipur can also be covered].

Also it would be best if you can also provide details of some low budget hotels, but decent ones.

Please share your thoughts.

Hi

firstly need to say ,you have very limited days in kerala and it will not be sufficient to cover your 3 best intrests-wild life, temple and landscape.

Whole of kerala landscape is very beautiful and wherever you go in kerala ,you can enjoy it .

for beautiful hill stations you have munnar, thekkady & wayanad.

For backwaters you have Alapuzha and kumarakom

for beaches you have kovalam, varkala, cherai, marari etc

as a wild life enthusiast the best place would be wayanad.it has couple of santuaries and if lucky you can even spot tigers.

If you are visiting wayanad,it would be really difficult to visit any other places mentioned above because of time constraints.

In other places you have a bird santuary in kumarakom and periyar tiger reserve in thekkady.spotting animals in thekkady would be less in december and i am afraid you wont be able to enjoy it.

Temples are found anywgere in kerala and atleast few famous ancient temple is seen in every district.so it wont be a problem.

So if you really want to enjoy wild life do visit wayanad and skip other places.instead of bandipur you may visit nagerhole which is near to wayanad.in this case nearby airport is calicut

Thirunelly temple,Jain temple,Thrissillery tempke etc may be visited in wayanad.

Or else if you can visit following popular route

cochin>cherai>munnar>thekkady>kumarakom>alapuzha>cochin

important temples are aranmula parthasarathy, vaikom, ettumannor temples.you can arrive and depart from cochin

if you have atleast 2 weeks time in kerala you could have enjoyed all your intrests.

Bandipur is in Karnataka, closer from Wayanad district of Kerala, it'd be better to visit the Periyar and Thekkady forest areas in Kerala instead.

If you want to visit Bandipur-Nagerhole National Parks, you can visit along with Malabar region (north Kerala), start your 7days trip from Mysore and end in Kozhikode (Calicut).
