Kerala trip in Oct & Nov 2014

Hi all

Happy Janmastami...

Have more or less finalised on following:

Day 1-Cochin to Munnar

Day 2 & 3- Munnar

Day 4 - Munnar to Kodaikanal

Day 5 - Kodaikanal

Day 6 - Kodaikanal to thekkady

Day 7 - Thekkady

Day 8 - Thekkady to Ashtamudi

Day 9 & 10 - Ashtamudi

Day 11 - Ashtamudi to Cochin

Have avoided Kovalam and other South Kerala part this time and would cover next time. Thinking of hiring a vehicle for entire journey from Cochin. Hope it is fine in your views...! Staying in Club Mahindra & Sterling resorts. How long is journey from Munnar to Kodaikanal and how much time it takes, how is the road?

Regards

Ravi

Hi

Munnar to kodaikanal is about 150 km and can take about 4 hrs.

You may visit alapuzha/kumarakom instead of ashtamudi if you want to travel less.

if planning for ashtamudi, you couldhave booked your return tickets from trivandrum

Booking a cab for entire trip is suggested and you may npost a requirement in message board of kerala tourism website.

Ravi. I am planning a trip almost same time and similar duration (~ 8 days). Hence, trying to take best learning from you.

My query is - Do we need to pre-book hotels are all places in advance or we can book on the go.

Kodai to Thekkady road conditions is also something to be thought about

Hi Neenu...

The road stretch that has to be considered from Kodai to Thekkady is via Batlagundu, Periyakulam, Theni and Cumbum is pretty good. It is a recently laid road and is mostly higways. So, there needs to be no concern on that bit. On the contrary, the Munnar to Kodai road is the one, that needs to be studied as it is monsoon time and these are narrow roads.
