Hi,

A single bed room houseboat on February will cost around 7 to 7.5K. You can surely negotiate for getting one within your budget.

For premium quality houseboats try ensure the following...

Room A/C will work from 9.00pm to 6.00am.

Well-furnished room/dining room.

Availability of hot water.

Welcome to see the kitchen in Houseboat.

Food menu:-(normal menu)

Welcome drink on arrival.

Non-veg meals (Including Fish fry and Chicken) for lunch.

Tea and snacks at evening

Non-veg Dinner (Chappati-Chicken)

Breakfast (Iddly/Puttu/Uppumav etc.)

You can opt for your own menu also-like Prawns, Crabs, other sea food items (Charges extra).

Activities they offer :-Enjoy activities like fishing using traditional fishing rod, swimming, village walk etc.

You can ask for photograph of houseboat you are going to travel when you book.

We hope that the above check list may help you to ensure quality up to an extent.

Regards,

Sreejith PC

In addition to above, make sure the houseboat has some in-house entertainment, while the boat is docked by the lake-side from 6pm to 7am. If you are not the kind of person who can entertain yourself by reading books, you should seriously consider how you plan to entertain yourself during this 12-13hr halt. Not to mention mosquitoes and insects that will join you in the evening, so ask the Houseboat provider to make provisions, or else you will have to stay put in your room. You can opt for a visit to Alleppey city/beach in the evening (just 8-10kms away) for few hrs and come back for dinner.

Munnar to Alleppey/Kumarakom will be around 3.5-4.0hrs.
