Dining in the Desert

I heard/read somewhere, sometime ago, about an amazing dining experience that is set in the desert - it may have been Jodhpur or Jaipur? It sounded amazing - dining under the stars with very attentive service and brilliant food. Has anyone heard of this or something similar?

Thanks for your help...

I think there are many such experiences, which people will talk about in further posts, but if you want a genuine eat in the desert experience and are a little adventurous, try Hacra, near Osian. Here you can eat in the middle of the desert with Gemar Singh. You can stay overnight in his desert homestead and sleep out under the stars. You will also look round desert villages in a very untouristy way.

Search for Hacra on this forum and you will find many recommendations.

Has to be Osian, Jaisalmer or Bikaner. In Osian, try HACRA. In Jaisalmer & Bikaner, all good hotels will arrange a desert outing and dinner for you. Another place could be Khuri

We had dinner in the desert in Bikaner with camelman.com. I wouldn't describe it as brilliant food or service, but it was a very enjoyable evening listening to Marwari musicians, by an open fire.

Any travel agent or hotel at Jaisalmer can arrange such a romantic dinner for you............ may talk to www.ratorajsthan.org which is a collective of Rajasthan tour operators.....

If you wish to do it directly with hotels, I'll say go with reputed ones like Hotel Fort Rajwada or Gorbandh Palace at Jaisalmer......
