November Trip report

Arrived Delhi November 10th on Qatar from Manchester at 8 o,clock.

We were met by Shisir Singh and taken to our hotel Kingston Park

we checked in then cleaned up .

Day 1 we were picked up sightseeing saw India Gate ,Lakshminarayan Temple ;Presidents house; Parliament house ;Raj Ghat Shanti Vana J ama Masjid and Red fort .Walked round Chandni Chowk market very busy with loads of people being taken round on bikes.We had a good afternoons tour then back to hotel .Changed and got ready for evening had a walk round by the hotel then decided to go back and have a meal in the hotel we ordered three meals for four of us which was plenty has the potions were large and eight beers then to bed.

Day2 After a good nights sleep we checked out we left our luggage at the hotel it was put in a room with name labels on ready for our return after a day in Shimla .We were picked up and taken to railway station by Shishir who saw us to the Kalka Shatabdi Exress. The train was lovely clean and the food was good it was all included we had snack and then breakfast.Arrived Kalka at 11.45 Toy train Himalayan Queen 12.10 we arrived at Shimla at 17.20 The views were lovely many bridges and tunnels we went through but after a long way on hard seats we were ready to get off .We were met at the station and taken to our hotel Karlra Regency it was quite a way out of Shimla its self but in a small village on the out skirts .Checked in and changed. Lovely rooms large and a view to die for. The hotel was cold we walked out in the village there were a few shops and eating places we found a nice warm one and had drinks and meal which was very nice. We walked back to hotel and had drinks honey bee brandy £5 a bottle they did not have any so sent out for it the staff were very nice and friendly .After drinking 3/4 of the bottle of brandy to warm us up went to bed.

Day3 After breakfast checked out ..driver picked us up went to Jaku Hill. It was a very cold morning we walked up the hill and looked around we then went into Shimla walked up the parade it was getting warm now .Shimla is a lovely place there is plenty to see many shops and eating places.The place looks very English its clean and we wish we had longer there. Would have liked to have stayed in the town at night so could have ate there .We only had a few hours then went to summer hill after our tour we were taken by car to Kalka.We walked round Kalka then caught the train back to Delhi again food was good.Checked back in to hotel Kingston Park got our luggage out of store and went to change .Had meal in hotel again few drinks and to bed.

Day 4 After breakfast sight seeing again Akshardham Temple and many other sites good tour around before going to hotel to check out .Shishir came to pick us up again to take us to station for over night train to Varanasi . Shishir made sure that we got on the train and found our seats we had 4 berth nice clean. Bedding clean no food provided on this train we took our own bits with us. We had a laugh then settled down for the night it was a long one could,nt sleep .It was very misty has we were getting near Varanasi you could see the farm people getting up and making fires and going to the fields.

Day 5 Arrived Varanasi 7.30 still misty we were met at the station and taken to our hotel it was not far. We checked in the hotel Surya the hotel looked very nice like a palace .Taken to our rooms and had a rest and clean up. Later walked round the area where we were has no tour we had free day to do what we wanted .Found a nice little garden with a eating place had something to eat and a drink very nice.They could not understand much english but we managed to get something . walked back hotel and sat round pool for a while. Back to the room fore a rest . We were picked up at 5 and taken to the ghats to see the evening ceremony it was very colour full and a sight to see we went on a boat and saw a cremation taking place .Had 2 hours there then walked back through the town to the car and back to the hotel. Had our meal in the hotel we waited a long time for it to come had drinks then to bed.

Thanks for your report, it's a shame you didn't stay in a hotel on the river in Varanasi as it's very suggestive early in the morning and at night but glad you enjoyed your trip.

Second part of our trip

Day 6 ; picked up early and we went back down to the Ghats and took an early morning boat to see the cremations.We saw two people being taken and dipped in the water then our guide says the elder son would put water in the mouth before going to be burned which we saw .Thought it would smell but it didn,t. We were down on the river for an hour saw people washing there clothes and them selfs next to were they were burning something we will never forget.We then walked round the back streets to the golden temple only saw the top off it we then went back to the hotel for breakfast.At eleven we were picked up for sightseeing ,Bharat Manta temple Kashi Vishwanarth temple and Sanarth we had a good tour late afternoon back to hotel.We went out to eat at Brownies restaurant we walked has it was not far from our hotel we had good night walked back to hotel.

Day 7; We had a free day we went for breakfast then had a walk around the area where we were .Bought food for our train tonight only crisps and bits .Our train as been changed as its been 12 hours late so going on second class over night . Picked up at 17.00 and taken to station the guide stayed with us and made sure we got on train .Train would not travel second class night again but had no choice so made the most of it were glad when it was over.

Day 8 ; Arrived at Agra were met at station and taken to hotel,Pushp Villa and checked in .Rooms lovely and big nice views over farming land .After we had cleaned up we were picked up for our tour of Agra. Today we have the same driver for the next seven days his name is Mohan. So to the Taj Mahal to me it was a wonderful place i have wanted to see for many years and it did not disapoint my expectations.The building work was lovely we walked around the gardens which were kept very nice our guide took many photos of us he was very good .Red Fort and Itamad ud Daular we had a rely good tour our guide was the best . Back to hotel at 18.00 ,we were tired . We had dinner in the hotel revolving restaurant nice but service slow .This day i will not foget.

Day 9;After breakfast we checked out and were picked up for drive to Jaipur .Stopped for drinks on the way to Fatehpur Sikri we had a guide and walked round the Palace it was very interesting we were there 2 hours then on to Jaipur.Arrived at hotel Mahal Kandela it was 18.30 we checked in then cleaned up .Had meal in hotel then sat in the lovely sitting room and had drinks till 10.00

then went bed tiring day but good .

Day 10; After breakfast we were picked up for tour we saw the palace of the winds but could only view from the road side .From there we went to the Amber Fort .It was a cool morning and we had to queue for the elephant ride we were only 30 mins then on the elephant .The ride up to the fort was good we could see good views on the way up then into the fort and go off . Our guide met us at the top we then looked round . There are many steps up to the top and then lovely views over the place. City Palace which was large when you thought you had seen it all there was an other part through the door lovely gardens court yards and decorations on walls .Hawa Palace and observatory then back to hotel 18.00 we had a good tour .Mohan our driver picked us up and took us for a meal were there was dancing .It was a cool night we sat out but under cover good meal but a little hot our fault we asked for it hot as most of the food we have had has been to mild .Dancing was good we had nice night then back to hotel .We sat in the sitting room again and had drinks before bed.

Day 11; Breakfast then check out ,picked up at 9.00 then drive to Pushkar on the way stoped for drinks and a look over some lake .Arrived at our camp after we found it it was tucked away down a small lane.The camp was not ready for us nothing was finished no water or electric it was not what we expected .We were the first people to arrive ,we asked for drinks 4 kingfisher they were bought to the tent. The guy was very nice said dinner would be 30 mins so we had our drink then was told dinner ready . It was cold not good at all there was only me that ate any out of politeness .Mohan took us in to Pushcar it was not far away he parked up and told us to come back when ready. We had a walk round the town and down to the lake ,then we went for something to eat very nice . Walked round again then back to the driver he went and bought us some beer and brandy has it was to dear in tents . We went to have meal in tents at night there were other people now all tents full. Meal cold again could not eat it ,we sat by the fire they had made and had our beer and brandy to keep us warm ,it was very cold night .

Day 12; Up early as to cold to sleep had awful night .Breakfast well bad again so had cereal bar . Mohan picked us up and took us a trip round then we walked through the fair ground saw opening of the fair many people full of colour dancing and camel racing .We were taken to Pushkar Palace hotel ,we had a lovely meal in a very nice dinning room .We walked round the gardens wich were kept very nice .Back into town we walked round again and wished we had only one night hear but we had two .Back to the tents not looking forward to this again ,meal bad well we still have some brandy and beer so sat by the fire We put many layers of cloths on and sat talking till the fire went out.

Day 13; Woke up early but had had a better night as plenty of clothes on .Packed all our things up driver was early no breakfast to day couldn,t wait to leave. Mohan then put all our bags in the car and off we were to Jodhpur it was a long drive through country and winding roads .Arrived hotel Kothi Heritage checked in lovely rooms .Tour of Jodhpur Mehrangarh Fort Moti Mahal Phool Mahal it was a very quick tour around we did not have enough time the guide just went to fast . Nice places not long enough to see things he then lost our driver and had to get a bike to find him. 15 mins later we were on our way back to hotel. We got a tuk tuk and went to over the rocks for our meal it was a very nice place and a good meal we had a nice night .Back to the hotel and to bed.

Day 14; After a very nice breakfast we checked out sorry to leave this hotel could have had one more day .Drove to Udairpur we visit to Jain Temples of Rankapur there were many pillars in these temples and none the same. Then to hotel Ram Pratap Palace checked in nice room lovely views across the lake .We had a tour of the town then in afternoon we walked round on our own. We ate at the hotel at night the meal good there you could see the lake .

Day 15; After breakfast we had tour City Palace Museum Sahelion ki Bari we had a good tour around .Afternoon we went on boat ride on the lake Pichola we had a good day .Night we went to a restaurant which was not far from our hotel think it was 1559ad good food lovely place we had a good night.

Day 16; After breakfast which was early we were taken to the airport for our journey to Cochin.This is where we said goodbye to Mohan our faithful driver who made our trip very special nothing to much trouble for him made sure we had plenty of water in car daily and took us to get beer and brandy he became a good friend. Then goodbye to Rajasthan. The representative made sure all our bags were checked in for the flight.

Just to say thanks to Savion Travel Services for for making our trip special every thing went to plane.

Hi Chrella we did want to have a hotel by the Ganges but we rely liked where we were we could walk out to a nice place for a drink and eat.
