Thank you for your suggestions. Are Fateh Prakash and Shiv Niwas Palace together?. Which one would you recommend?. I sent an email to them yesterday and they sent me quotations for both.

We are visiting Udaipur for the first time and any insights for sight seeing would be really helpful.

Thanks

these are two different hotels own by HRH group of Hotels and next to each other. My Suggestion goes for Dove Cote Rooms of Fateh Parkash instead of DlX rooms of Shivniwas, as rooms of Shivniwas have no view only suite are lake facing .

Rang Niwas is very well situated, a short walk to the palace and lake. It is an old palace/havelli with a small pool, which your kids might like. Also a small grassy area with sun loungers.

The staff are lovely and the rooftop restaurant is very cheap for a hotel and good.

The downsides are that it is looking a little faded around the edges, although the rooms are fine and because it is in the centre of Udaipur it some rooms can be a bit noisy.
