Trip to Tiruchendur

Hi,

We a family of 3 are planning a trip to Tiruchendur from Bangalore by car. Schedule to leave Bangalore on 22/12/2013 at 4 p.m. in the morning and need to be back on 25/12/2013 evening by at least by 9 p.m. So I would like your help regarding the following;

1. Route to be taken from Bangalore to Tiruchendur.

2. Good veg reasturent for morning breakfast, lunch and dinner.

3. Other places which I can visit en route to Tiruchendur and good budget hotels if we have to make a stay.

4. Places that we can visit on our way back to Bangalore from Tiruchendur.

We do not want a hectic schedule, but if we could cover some good places, it would be great.

Thanks

1. Bangalore - Hosur - Dharmapuri - Salem - Namakkal - Karur - Dindugul - Madurai - Aruppukottai - Ottapidaram - Tuticorin - Thiruchendur.

2. Breakfast - Early - Krishna Bhavan in the HP Petrol Bunk at Shoolagiri. You also have a Cafe Cofee Day and McDonalds here. Then, you have Adyar Anandha Bhavan at Thoppur on the right hand side of the road. Then you have the Parthasarathy Vilas before Salem in the Salem Steel Plant area, which is also on the opposite side of the road. Lunch can be had at Karur or Dindugul based on the time. At Karur, just take left in the Coimbatore Road Junction and enter the city. In that road, you will find Padma, then you have the Valluvan opposite to the bus stand, which is good and you also have the Adyar Anandha Bhavan nearby. You may stop over for a snack anywhere in Madurai and head to Thirunchendur for dinner. In Thiruchendur, the standard option would be Mani Iyer's hotel.

3. If you reach Madurai, say by 4.00 PM, you may visit the temples of your choice and then head to Tiruchendur. You may consider staying at Meenakshi Sunshine Hotel at Madurai, which is budget friendly and clean. In Tiruchendur, my take would be Hotel Shivamurugan, a clean and nice hotel.

4. You may consider visiting the Nava Tirupathi Temples located in that vicinity and also the Vana Tiruppathi Temple nearby. Other places may depend on your interests and preferences. You may also consider Palani, which would be a slight detour from Dindugul or even Kanyakumari or Courtallam Falls or Srivilliputhur temple or Rameswaram etc. There are a lot of options, but depends on your plans.

Thanks a lot for your reply. Since we do not much about this route and places that could be visited en route to Tiruchendur, can u give us an itinerary starting from Bangalore 11/22/2013 and until reaching Bangalore 11/25/2013 covering some famous places, may be 1 or 2 temples and beautiful beach if any, where we could stay overnight on beach side. We would very much appreciate that and will be very greatful if you could help us in this. Would like to visit Tiruchendur temple in the morning and perform a small puja there as that is our primary goal.

Thanks your once again

Hi...

You might consider a travel plan as below,

22nd - Depart from Bangalore. Enroute visit Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and if time permits, visit Thiruparamkundram and Pazha Mudhir Cholai and then proceed to Tiruchendur for overnight stay.

23rd - Morning darshan and pooja at the temple. Proceed to Vana Tiruppathi for darshan. Lunch at Hotel Saravana Bhavan, Vana Tirupathi. Check out and proceed to Kanyakumari. You may consider staying at Hotel Tamil Nadu, which faces the beach. Reach here before sun set to have the sun set view. Overnight Kanyakumari

24th - Sur Rise View in the early morning. Kanyakumari Local sight seeing, viz., Vivekananda Memorial, Thiruvalluvar Statue, Gandhi & Kamaraj Memorial (if interested) and Devi Kanyakumari Temple visit and window shopping. Lunch and check out after lunch to proceed to Dindugul via Madurai. If you happen to reach Madurai early, you may consider some shopping. Overnight Dindugul or if time permits, head to Palani

25th - Palani temple darshan and head to Bangalore via, Dharapuram, Kangeyam and join the NH at Erode to proceed via Salem, Krishnagiri and Hosur.

Feel free to revert for any further clarifications.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your travel plan and would like to visit Rameshwaram. So can you give me a plan to include Rameshwaram? I do not mind skipping any other place for Rameshwaram, may be like Palani or some other place excluding Tiruchendur.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Srikanth,

23rd - Just go to Rameswaram instead of Kanyakumari and stick to the same plan only that the distance is the double. Kanyakumari is 100 kms, whereas Rameswaram is 200 kms. On the way to Rameswaram, you can plan Uthiragosamangai, Thirupullani & Sethukarai. Kindly google the names of this places to know the importance of these temples and proceed if interested, else drive straight to Rameswaram.

24th - Early morning Spatika Linga Darshan, then breakfast and go for the holy dip in the 22 wells and then darshan of Ramanathaswamy. Then local interests (not much) and window shopping, then Lunch. After lunch, check out and proceed to Palani, visiting Devipattinam (Nava Bhasanam), Pillayarpatti, Pattamangalam (Guru Sthalam), Thirukoshtiyur and reach Palani.

25th - Early morning Palani darshan and proceed to Bangalore as said above.

The above temple suggestions are my personal opinions and I would suggest you research on these and make you list of which all you want to visit.
