Day Trips

Hi everyone

I am staying at the Dynasty Resort in January with my daughter

Was wondering whether to book day tours from home or wait until we at the hotel? Is it cheaper booking from hotel, any examples of prices would be much appreciated.

Thanking you for your help!!

Hotels are expesive places to get trips. From travel agency you get better price. Example www.ilovebali.eu

there are many travel agency booths on the streets in Bali and they are probably the cheapest place to buy...even waterbom tickets.

Driver prices if you do it yourself with a driver would be approx 450 000rp a day. Plus entry prices etc.....or most tours will pick you up from hotel.

Agree with PerthLove. Try the streets and don't forget to haggle. It's easy to get 5-10% off advertised/quoted prices, especially if you say you want to continue to shop around.

Avoid doing anything at hotels like booking tours and exchanging money, You'll always pay extra.

It is easy to buy day tours in Bali, and I am sure, there will be much cheaper if you want to shop around instead of buy from hotel.

If you hire a driver + car + petrol for your day tours, here is recommended price.

Car with 5 seats (APV Arena, Kijang Innova) is about Rp.350.000 - 600.000/day

Depend on car type and new car or not... Kijang Innova is more luxury compared with APV.

It is cheaper to book your own day trips yourself.

Your choices are:-

to book a driver in advance. We have compiled a list of highly recommended drivers. (You can find this link on the bali forum home page or click this link)

tripadvisor.com.au/ShowTopic-g294226-i7220-k…

OR

Negotiate with one of the many local drivers on the street in Bali. These drivers are everywhere. There are a few guys basically opposite the Dynasty just to the front of the febris hotel.

These drivers will all help you plan your days of sightseeing and help arrange any entry fees to attractions you wish to visit.

Day trips organized by hotels are generally more $'s, Also joining in organized tours is usually more expensive as they charge per person NOT for a car. You are also 'locked' into a very structured day where as having your own driver you can stop where and when you want and eat at places that suit you.

The drivers on our recommended list are all worth considering and will help you do some planning in advance.

For short distances to get you from A to B use a local bluebird taxi.

Day trips are much cheaper booked out on the street. We have booked all our day trips previously with the street booths - and is generally about 50%cheaper than booking them from home in Aus.

Never had a problem with any of our trips - gone white water rafting a few times, scuba diving, Bali safari, volcano, monkey forest, elephants.... So much to do - and they are generally able to customize trips for you can choose exactly what you want to see.

There are so so many travel agents (although they call themselves 'tourist information, but in reality they are travel agents) booth along kartika plaza street where your hotel is located. Just ask for price quotes from some of them and choose the cheapest. Since there are so many of them the competition between them is very stiff so you can expect to get a very good price.

You can also ask freelance drivers on the street for more customized day trip, you can expect to pay Rp 400,000 for a day but it doesn't include entrance fee of any attractions however you have more choices. Bookings from hotel is really not recommended since the price will be so expensive.
