Just back after 6 days staying at the grand nikko resort in nusa dua (positive review of resort to come) with husband and 4 year old daughter (both bali first timers).
We flew with virgin from perth, arriving just prior to the cancellation of some flights due to the volcano eruption (phew!!).
Progressed through immigration very quickly and caught the airport taxi to resort (180.000rp).
Even though we arrived just prior to midday we we were soon in our room checking out the breathtaking views from our cliff tower room.
We were soon down by the pool, or I should say pools plural. This is the best feature of the resort with the best pools for all ages, including 2 slides and many areas to get away from other guests exploring rocky caves and waterfalls. We spent ALOT of time in the nikko pools.
In addition to resort relaxing we also took many trips to bali collections on the hourly shuttle bus for massages, shopping and eating (fav cheap restaurant there was oceans for cheap and tasty Nasi goreng). It's actually a really nice vibe walking around bali collections, with some descent quality shops (sogo's) and even some cheaper market style shops up near gate c.
We also hired a driver for a day and went to check out sanur prior to heading to the beaches around ulluwatu (dreamland, Padang Padang). Finished the day at the fire dance. Was great to see other areas but was alot of driving to cover what would seem to be short distances.
Also planned to visit Finns beach club but that would have tested the patience of husband and child on our last day (after the previous days excursion). Will defiantly get there next time.
On reflection I loved staying at the grand nikko as they offer exceptional service in gorgeous surroundings however would next time split our time between 2 places- ideally 4 days somewhere in sanur (open to suggestions here) and finish back at grand nikko for 4 days. Happy to answer any questions for anyone travelling soon.
