deposits at the Mercure

we are due to arrive at the Mercure on Saturday and was wondering if anyone knew if this hotel insist on guests leaving deposits against the rooms, either travellers cheques or by swiping a credit card etc.

i know this wasnt the case last time i was in Bali, but have not staid at this hotel before, and am wondering whether i need to budget for deposits etc.

thanks in advance for your advise.

Have just stayed there - yes they do, either cash or credit card swipe.

Not sure why, but I assumed we were talking about the Mercure in Sanur, as that's where we were! They ask a set amount, not sure how much as I just gave them a credit card for imprint but paid cash on departure. I'm not sure if the policy is the same at all their properties.

Look, I don't want to sound unsympathic but what does it really matter. Your accommodation costs are what they are. If they swipe your credit card on arrival or take a deposit, it's not going to change the amount you have to pay on check out.

Am I missing something here. I don't get what the problem is.

We were at the Novotel Benoa in June this year , which I believe is the same Hotel Chain, and they swiped RP1 000 000.00 to cover room charges etc.

They do not debit account until check out.

So it is actually part of the money you have budgeted for in the first place.
