Not so sleepy Sanur August 2014?

So, having previously visited Sanur in March when we enjoyed how quiet and laid back it was we have discovered that we arrive in the middle of the Sanur festival next week.

Reading TA reports already I see lots of mention of 'need to make a booking' for the restaurants etc. Would we be as well doing this now as a few restaurants we would be dissapointed if we didn't get chance to visit. Or could we leave it until the day we would like to eat there and phone and reserve?

We are pretty laid back -see what we fancy at the time kind of people and even enjoy having a stroll and popping in on a place on a whim of the day.

Are we to expect millions of people wandering around Sanur next week or is the main event on set days?

Thanks guys

Most visitors to the festival try the food there.Various restaurants / cafes have stalls set up.

You will be fine regarding the restaurants. Just book the morning of for your dinner otherwise if you are walking past the day of or day before just make a booking then.

I find that the only restaurant that requires a booking is Mona Lisa

The festival is great. there is so much to see and listen to all the different musicians. All this entertainment is free. You only have to pay for your eats and drinks.

If you do manage to get here for the festival be sure to take advantage of all the free activities on offer. We happened upon the festival and so far signed up for the free cycle tour ( included a very genteel cycle tour of the town and local area with free admission to a few places including the museum) The biggest bonus was having a free sea walk today ( going under water in a helmet thing) to plant some coral out on the reef - usual price $75!!! Such a great atmosphere in the evenings too at the festival ground. Definitely make sure you stop by if in the area!
