The distant from Sanur to Ubud approximately 30 Km, it will take you more or less an hour dependent on the traffic. I Had been there twice, it was very nice, mostly the people and the culture! there were a lot of Car rental in Bali, you may pick one of them, they will drive you to where you wishes! sometime you will meet very aggressive street vendor who sell their own stuff , Just say " no Thanks". wish you all the best.
you can either book a local driver from sanur or book in advance. we have a list of recommended drivers on the bali forum home page. e mail a few and see who is available. some book out well in advance. If you book one of the recommended drivers they can suggest some places and help plan your day. Ubud is a lovely place to visit and there are also some sights worth seeing in the surrounding area. If you tell the driver your interests he can recommend places in advance and that will give you time to do some more research. I allow one hour to get to Ubud from Sanur. there is a good group of drivers who stand just outside the mercure.
Thank you for your replies.
How much should we expect to pay for a day trip to Ubud?
day trips vary but the price is between 400,000 - 550,000rp. e mail a few recommended drivers and they will advise you what they charge
Many thanks I'll do that.
I highly recommend you not just pop into Ubud for a look around, you will be disappointed. The magic of Ubud is to meet the local people, see the arts and crafts, attend the ceremonies and dance and music performances, take walks through rice fields and to relax and learn about the culture. It's a much more traditional area than Sanur and completely different.
That said, it is about a 45 minute drive to Ubud, and there are lots of drivers around Bali who can take you anywhere. If you only are coming to Ubud for one day, all the drivers know the basic tourist sights, rice terraces, Monkey Forest, Ayung River (do the rafting, it's beautiful) Museums, Gunung Kawi, Goa Gajah, etc etc. On the way, you can check out the Bali Bird Park. Stay for the evening and take in one of the gamelan and dance performances.
That's very helpful thank you! Looking forward to it already.
