Spa in Ubud

What do you think is the nicest day spa in Ubud area...I want something that is clean with private rooms for a couples treatment. We did Bali Ratu in the Ubud area and thought that was nice. Something like that would be good. We are also two couples so something that can accommodate us at the same time.

Hi,

My fave is the Bodyworks Spa.

Traditional, lovely Bale in the courtyard, excellent therapists, and CHEAP.

There is no NICEST. Everyone has one they think is the best. I always liked Nur Salon and Zen, but on recommendations of others here I am going to try Bali Botannica next trip.

How cheap is Bodyworks? I looked at their site but it doesn't list prices. I'm just trying to gauge how much a 1-hour massage typically costs in Ubud.

At the places I go, about 40-60k for a basic massage, extra for scrubs and wraps and spice baths etc. At the places my sister in law goes, (posh resort in house) up to a million! Perfectly nice places like Venezia are around 100k for a massage . There are so many of them, they need to be very competitive. Therefore so cheap you could have two treatments a day and plenty of change for chocolate.

Fuggler, just spent half my holiday at Bodyworks (-:

The regular massages, which are good, are 120,000 Rp. If you want a seriously therapeutic massage by very skilled therapists ask for "the masters assistant". They have several now-I can highly recommend Putra or Suastika . They cost slightly more at 176,000 Rp but really worth it in my opinion.

I tried several other massages but none as good as Bodyworks for deep tissue.

Its a massage based on the principles of the Indian Ayurvedic medical/physiology system, which includes the concept similar to the 'humours' of ancient Greece, herbs, special oils and so on.
