late arrival ubud

Hi, we will be arriving at DPS at 21.30pm from Perth and planning to go to Ubud with a transfer from the hotel. We are the couple with a two year old kid. Can anyone advise if it is ok to drive late night to Ubud or better to book a overnight stay close to the airport. Thanks

We always go through to Ubud or other locations we may staying. You often find it's a far quicker drive at night and you don't have to get up the next morning and be on your way again..

Sue is right...9:30 arrival is not too late and you will find nighttime is a much better time traffic wise. Hotels in Ubud are mostly garden-y and lovely to wake up to in the morning!

since the hotel is picking you up they will know where the hotel is located and everything should go very smoothly...(also saves you from going through the trouble of booking the airport location hotel as well..one more thing not to worry about! )

I love arriving at night and driving to Ubud through the villages, there is often activity at the temples, the street carts are still feeding the last customers, dancers are arriving home on the back of motorbikes after an evening performance, men are sitting around small tables enjoying a chat and the ever present dogs are busily looking for a scrap of dinner. It is as if Bali has been reclaimed by the balinese. A magical time to arrive and perfectly safe.

Dirkin:

If you are worried about road travel up to Ubud do not worry. Even though we are slightly elevated over the airport area it's a regular level road and no twists and turns like you get in the more mountainy areas. sorry, I tried to edit my post earlier but I guess it did not go through!

I arrived at 10:30pm at night with my 2 year old daughter on a trip a couple of years ago and travelled straight to our Ubud hotel. It was a good time to be driving and after the initial excitement of watching the bikes zoom past she fell asleep for the rest of the drive. Definitely recommend get a driver from the hotel as the hotels are not always that easy to find.
