OK, here is my dilemna. I have the month of September available and am wavering between two destinations. 1. The Amazon and travelling some of the surrounding area of Puru. 2. Indonesia, emphasis would be a little bit in Java. then over to Kalimantan or Sulawesi.
My question is - I speak Spanish on an intermediate level so travel in South America would be a bit easier, and perhaps more intimate. I DO NOT speak any dialect found in Indonesia - HOW IMPORTANT, BENEFICIAL, NECESSARY IS IT TO BE ABLE TO SPEAK THE LANGUAGE???
My style of travel is ........ enjoy backpacking, but willing to take a break from that for more comfort. I do not normally do tours, but seems like here, that might make sense.
Thanks for you opinions!!
