Area to Stay

Hi,

We're going to Lombok tomorrow for a few days and are looking for some advice on a good area to stay.

We're just looking for a nice white sand beach to take it easy. We don't need to be on the beach but maybe less than a 15 minute walk. We'd like to be near a few restaurants as well.

We will be going onto the Gilis after so we're looking for other options first.

We had been thinking Sengiggi, which part would be best? Or are there other places that are better? We arrive into Lombok by air.

We're hoping to keep the cost per night below IDR250,000.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

There may be white sand beach in Senggigi but I did not see. IMHO Kuta would be it and there are homestays in your price range with a few restaurants nearby.

I agree Kuta Lombok would be the spot. Maybe check if Mimpi Manis homestay have a vacancy. It's a little out of town but very friendly and one of my favourite places to stay. You can rent a scooter to explore the area, and they also do a free orientation tour if you are staying a couple of nights

Thanks for that.

Is Kuta white sand?

It looks a little out of our way as we will be going to the Gilis next. How long would it take to get from the airport to Kuta and also from Kuta to the Gilis?

Thanks

Yes, Kuta is white sand. As are the surrounding beaches which are even better than Kuta itself. It is about 30minutes from the airport and it is about 2.5 hours from Kuta to Bangsal where you get the boat to Gili Air.

Here are some photos of the beaches around Kuta

Thanks again.

How much should we expect to pay in a taxi to Kuta from the airport if we do go? Also, is there a bus from Kuta to Bangsal?

A taxi is about Rp90,000, private car Rp120,000.

There are tourist shuttles that you can book the cost is Rp180,000 per person to Gili Air. Bus and Boat.

Alternatively a private car charter to Bangsal will cost about Rp400,000 and the boat then Rp10-15,000 per person.

As you are flying into Lombok it works well to visit South Lombok and get some great beaches in as it's close to the airport. Then make your way to the Gilis.

A belated thanks to all for the help on this.

We had a great time in Kuta and loved the beaches we saw.

We have been recommending it to people we have met!

Thanks
