Jericho and Qumran from Jerusalem

Hello to all,

I will be in Jerusalem in October and would like to go to Jericho and Qumran in half a day, I'll use the bus.

What is the best route and which bus should I take?

thanks

It will be hard to do it exclusively by bus, as there are no direct buses between Jerusalem and Jericho nor between Jericho and Qumran. To get from Jerusalem to Jericho you need to take a bus to al-Ezriyya and then a servees to Jericho. There are a few direct bus between Jerusalem and Qumran, buses 486, 487 and also 421. Check their timetable at http://www.egged.co.il/eng (search by origin and destination).

thanks Amos,

using two days, it is best to go to Jericho from Bethlehem with servees?

Definitely, from Bethlehem you have direct transportation to Jericho, so if you sleep one night in Bethlehem you can go visit Jericho on the 2nd day. But - afterwards you'll still have to get back to Jerusalem with 2 buses/serves.

I would visit Qumran separately, as part of a visit to the Dead Sea from Jerusalem.
