Good affordable Accomm on Mahe

My boyfriend and I are looking for some suggestions on where to stay on Mahe. We are travelling there in September.

I have been quoted Berjaya Beau Vallon but the reviews are awful!

We are on a budget and I know Seychelles is very expensive but there still has to be something out there us?

We will also consider Self Catering but would preferabley like to be on a good beach, and if Self catering, walking distance to markets/shops etc.

We are a couple in our late twenties, just wanting a romantic break!

Anything you can suggest will be appreciated.

My family and I stayed at Chalets d' Anse Forbans. We enjoyed it and the chalets are on the beach. It was comfortable and reasonably priced. We also hired a car to travel around . A local supermarket is in Quatre Bourne (sp). Good luck.

Hi there

I've stayed at Berjaya Beau Vallon and I think the reviews are rather unkind to be honest. It is affordable, not over glamorous, but superbly situated if you want to do things on a budget. The rooms are fine, the food is affordable and the access to local restaurants is great.

If you want a guest house there is Augerine which is very local to Berjaya, and you have plenty of others to choose from. My best advice is speak to a tour operator and set out an ideal budget and I'd be sure that you'll get more than you imagined.

We have some superb specialists in the UK who are happy to deal with clients from all corners of the world. Let me know if you'd like some names and websites and I'll help.

Hi You can check the official Tourist Board web site for small hotels, and self catering places..

I can recommend Anse Soleil Beachcomber ( on the beach) Maison Soleil, Anse Soleil Resort.

Laugerine in Beau Vallon,

On Praslin, Hirondelle, Laurier, Britannia, Ocean Villas,

And on La Digue, the Digoise, Hotel L Ocean..

I think you can save maney by going direct to the establishments and avoid the agencies, unless they are local.

Remember 'Local Travel' is good..... it helps the locals more...

I agree with seygee. Anse Soliel Beachcomber would be perfect for a quiet, not too expensive, holiday on a wonderful beach.

There are many very affordable guest houses and self caterings in Seychelles. South mahe is probably the least populated thus more relaxing and tranquil. You could try small seychellois owned establishments such as Bacova, La Desirade, Ti lakaz, Devon and Fleur de Sel. All are on or very close to the beach.

We stayed in wonderful accommodation on Mahe called the Devon Residence. We used to lie in bed in the morning and watch the sun rise out of the sea and the Minah birds used to come and eat from the Mangos on the tree outside our room. The views were amazing and the accommodation was spotless. There are two local shops and bus stops at the bottom of the road. We paid 75 euros a night. The only down side was that there was no bars or restaurants within walking distance. We hired a car for a few days and then used the bus. There is a beautiful beach at Anse Royale which is good for both swimming and snorkelling. There are also shops, a good take away and restaurant at Anse Royale.

We liked the position of Driftwood at Anse Royale which is right on this beautiful beach and with the local facilities to hand. I believe this is 100 euros a night.

There are also many good value self catering places in and around Beau Vallon, and if you really wanted to budget I have seen a studio apartment for 40 euros a night which has been given two 5/5 reviews and one 4/5 review. See link below

Hello,

My family is going in October and I was just looking at this place. Can you get around ok without a car (walking distance to restaurants and grocery? Also, can you snorkel at the beach there? Thanks!

I am not too sure which place you are referring to Humanfamily but both Anse Royale and Beau Vallon aren't the best for snorkelling. Beau Vallon is beautiful and great for swimming.

We found Anse Royale great for swimming. At the far end of the beach (on the left hand side looking out to sea) there is a little island - ile souris - which we found good for snorkelling. We also liked the beach at Anse Soleil which was a lovely setting and also good for swimming.
